I found out a friend/colleague of mine has cancer. He had a blood clot in his neck back in the summer and they ran a bunch of tests looking for cancer, and couldn't find it. Now they found it in a lymph node in his neck. He starts chemo and radiation next week. The outlook is bleak, and he has a wife and two young children. Very tragic.

I am praying hard for your friend and also for his family. I have had first hand experience of this with my lovely wife who i lost almost seven year ago aged 43. I finished bringing three kids up and went to work, and they have all done me proud. it is an extremely hard road for everyone involved, and just for me i hope he beats it.
There is success out there a friend i have down south, beat it in the same place, we shot partridges together again last year, so please try to keep his whole family positive that is very important, he will do much better if kept positive.
regards to all Billy

Thanks all. The ceremonial shaving of his head is Sunday. I can't make it, but I'm trying to get another buddy that will be there to get his shaved, then come back and shave my head next week. My wife is telling me I can't do it ... we'll see...

My wife is telling me I can't do it ... we'll see... She's right. You can't shave your head, but you sure can have someone shave it for you! My prayers for a speedy recovery and an easy round of treatements for your buddy.

I lost my paternal Grandmother to lung cancer, your friend will be in my thoughts. With the advancements they've made in cancer treatments his prospects are probably better than you think, and having such a wonderful support group will do a lot toward his recovery.

My prayers are with you. Sometimes amazing things happen... a preacher friend of my brother had a brain tumor that is about 90% fatal. The doctor gave him 6 months tops, and that was about 2 years ago. Be ready for the worst but pray for the best.

Again - thanks for the thoughts and prayers. I found out with the form of chemo is undergoing, he is not expected to loose his hair. :-) A bonus for him, if nothing other than just for the comfort factor.

not a lot more i can add to what i have said , but that is a positive, i am praying for a lot more positives for everyone involved.
It is very difficult to explain this but i will try. I cannot speak from a woman's perspective but for me it was heartbreaking to be able to do nothing at all but give comfort and be there. As the man of the house one is used to fixing every problem that arises but with this, one is helpless, and it is not a nice feeling. My heart goes out to your friend and also to his wife because she also is going through the wringer, and she needs support just as much as hubby does, also so is there kids, regardless how old they are they know something is wrong. This is when one finds out who ones friends really are, i got some shocks on this road. regards billy

Thanks Billy As for the kids, his wife is keeping a blog and told a story from a couple of days ago. One of the kids wanted to know where Daddy was while he was in the hospital, Mom told him that Daddy was sick. He replied, "My Daddy isn't sick, he is brave!" :-)
