Text for the Day -- John 6:57, 66-69 ---------- Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever eats me will live because of me. Because of this many of his disciples turned back and no longer went about with him. So Jesus asked the twelve, ‘Do you also wish to go away?’ Simon Peter answered him, ‘Lord, to whom can we go? You have the words of eternal life. We have come to believe and know that you are the Holy One of God.’
Devotional ---------- There is a particularity about Christianity that is difficult for some people to accept. Brunner in his book, the Scandal of Particularity, explored this issue. Somewhere along the way of engagement with Christianity, you have to decide about Jesus. Jesus way of putting it was, "Who do you say that I am?",or in this text, "Do you too wish to go away?" Peter's response is a bold leap of faith saying that Jesus is at the heart of Christianity. "To whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."
Prayer ----- Help me make this leap of faith every day, O Lord. Amen
