My girlfriend has a fairly large basement that is all concrete with nothing really down there. I was thinking about setting up some sort of shooting range down there. I would be able to get 15-20 yard shots which would be fine for me. Lately I've had an itch for shooting but I'm living near campus for school so it is kind of hard for me to go out and shoot whenever I want to. My question is what would you recommend putting behind my target in case of a miss? I have done a little reading and seen some people say hanging a blanket works good or putting plywood behind helps too. I was just curious if anyone on here has a place they shoot inside and if so, what they use? Please help!!!!

Don't have 1 myself but the 1 I have seen just used a big bag target and nothing else. His was 15yds max. You can get them 32x32ish; that should cover you.

Okay then, no problem. He didn't state he was shooting archery equipment. He only posted the question in the archery forum.

My advise...Stand close and use your crappiest arrows! There is something magnetic about concrete block walls sucking-in arrows (at least at my house). Be sure to check that you have adequate overhead clearance for standing shots or you may bump the floor joists with the bow tip.

I set mine up by using a block target and then OLD pillows and insulation behind it backed by plywood so the cushioning would slow down the arrow if it doesnt stop it.

When I was really into shooting recurves I was living in a house with a great basement to shoot in. I had about a 15-20 yard indoor range. Just hung a bag target from a joist and had a blast!

I shoot in my basement all the time, heck in our old house I shot from our bedroom , down the hall way for a 18 yard shot. More for muscle memory than anything

Go to a TSC store and get yourself one of those 3/4"thick rubber mats that they sell fo $30, the ones that are used for livestock to stand on.
