Still too far away to know I'll be doing. I know I'll be at KY lake this Saturday thru Tuesday.

Been reading the shallow grass bite has really been heating up. Can you tune me in to specific areas where grass can be found?

Got to admit the lake kicked my but this past trip. Not sure what the excuse was. The fished seemed to be holding at the bottom of the ledges but bites were far and few between. The size was decent but no quantity. Wind, or there lack of was out out of the east or northeast the entire trip. Never saw any current and bait fish were everywhere. I still had fun though. Highlight was right at the end of the trip. Put the boat on the trailer and wanted to wipe off the slime before it dried. Wiping with my right hand and not watching my left arm I ended up with a crankbait in my arm. I grabbed the needle nose and forced the barb back thru my skin so it was exposed. Then I cut the barb off and slipped it out. My wife freaked out and couldn't watch so she left. LOL. No one around to do the stringy pull method and I wasn't going to the ER. Antiseptic wipes, neosporin and a bandaid and I saved $400. ;D A few ledge pics with fish.

Gary, I was expecting pics of a boat load of fish from ya. At least you got something to remember the trip for, but a crankbait in the arm isn't the ideal memory.

There is visible grass right now from Blood River south on the main lake and a little further north in the back of the bays. I put in at Fenton last week and there was grass there on the other side of the boat ramp against bank.

I've never been on the lakes during a summer holiday weekend and they not be crowded. Isn't kentucky the only surrounding state to the lakes that has a deer season in right now? Wouldn't think that would make that much of a difference on the water with the thousands of people from out of state that travel there.

Hoosier Hunter Are you coming back down here any more this Fall ? The fishing is good right now. Short trip on 9/28. I have the ledge class with Dave Stewart that day and I know that also consists of 2 to 3 hours of on the water. Then I have Saturday and Sunday morning to fish. I will be back on 10/18 for 4 days. When I was there a few weeks ago water temps were around 82-83. What are they now?

We fished Kentucky Lake a few days ago. We fished in between the Eggners Ferry Bridge, and the Highway 79 Bridge.
We found some good areas of grass. There is grass growing in several of the Bays south of Kenlake State Park.
We caught a few Largemouth Bass, and several White Bass. A guy at the launching ramp caught a 5 Pound Smallmouth Bass with the Umbrella Rig while fishing a creek channel Ledge, that was cool to see.

Bass are hitting VERY good on topwater right now here in my home lake. Surface temps are about 71. Fished a tournament Saturday. Winning boat had 5 spots that weighed 18+ lbs. My partner and I had 13# with spots. Our tournament was over at 3pm. Another tournament on the same lake was over at 4 so we went and watched their weigh in. Winning boat had 20.75# total weight of 5 spotted bass. Unreal!!!! Everyone throwing super spooks and other top waters. Nothing like a blow up from a big spot for sure. You all might want to try it. Oh, didn't matter if they were breaking or not. Just throw and walk that dog.

A lot of nice Crappie and Bass have been caught this week on the local lakes.
A lot of guys are catching Bass on the Umbrella Rig, Swim Baits, and Tube Baits right now they just are not talking about it much.

We caught some good Bass earlier this morning on KY Lake. The fishing should be good this week.
The weather is going to be nice the next few days. If you can get out and fish.

That hook in the arm brings back memories. I don't know if I could push a hook on through the skin like that. I had one embedded in the thumb joint. Couldn't push it through if I wanted to. Cut the hook off the lure and jerked it back out the way it went in. I feel for ya man, those smart.
