Ethanol is pure alcohol and makes parts run hotter..
Instead of a 50:1 mix it is suggested to go to a 30:1 mix with gas/oil mixture for boat motors....
Phase separation..is where the gas is left in the left in the tank for long periods. Ethanol draws moisture (water) and separates from the gas. This leaves a layer of liquid at the bottom of your tank that the spark plugs will not burn and at the bottom of the tank is where the fuel is picked up at !
There is NO additive on the market that will fix this! So, to prevent costly repairs .....use a 30:1 mixture and do not let gas with ethanol sit unused for long periods ! (source...N.C. Game & Fish Mag.)

This has become as necessary as oil in outboard motors.

It paly's hell with any two stoke engine that you mix gas and oil with. I have lost count at the number of chainsaws people have brought in for repair that I had to replace the fuel lines and rebuild the carbs because of this crap. Only mix enough gas and oil that you will use within a couple weeks time and don't let your gas stay in your saw when not in use.

Ethanol, another goobermint failure. And the 'guvmint is wanting 20% in ethanol now, will destroy any car engine built before 2007, and they want 20% of the corn crop mandated to make ethanol, with corn over $8 a bushel, the price of a gallon of gas would sky rocket. It takes 3 units of energy to make 2 units of ethanol, 6 gallons of water for every gallon of ethanol, decreases your MPG by as much as 30%, and increases the amount of pollution per gallon over that of gasoline and your horse power drops also. What more could you ask for?

Some Shell stations still carry fuel without ethanol. I have resorted to running racing fuel in all my 2 cycle stuff. I go through about 10 gal bi-weekly, but it beats carb and fuel system troubles.

Sea Foam added periodically to my '67 SS, lawn mower, bass boat, etc. Really cleans the carbon deposits out of the engine that ethanol is famous for doing. I put half a can in my truck and the other half in my wife's car. Noticeable difference in idling and running after running out a tank of gas with this mixed in.
