Made an offer on 33.3 acres of hunting land in Dearborn County Friday and got word today that the offer was accepted! Pretty excited! It is a great area right on the line with Ohio County about 7 or 8 miles South of Dillsboro. Any of you near that neck of the woods?

Yep! Not too far from me but don't expect to ever see let alone kill a big buck in that part of the state!

BTW congrats on obtaining your own ground! It will be a whole lot of fun to set everything up the way you want it and watch things happen with no one to answer to but yourself!

Congratulations, now the work begins. Having done this myself I would suggest you not buy a tractor or put in food plots, because I can only assume that the land shows signs of good hunting as it stands. Spend your time cleaning up any trash, removing old junk including fences and maybe looking at the possibility of building on it someday. How close are utilities gas, electric and telephone. You can make a lot of improvements and save money with just a chainsaw, pruning shears and chemicals to control invasive plant life. Enjoy the land as it is and for what attracted you in the first place...... and......learn to say the word "NO" but thank you for asking.

I know part of the fun of owning your own piece of heaven is to do with it as you please and there are improvemtns that can be made but I do cringe when I see guys bulldozing great habitat just to put another crop field in. Regardless of what you do or don't do, congratulations and enjoy

I'm not planning on doing much. There is a wide lane that opens up to a powerline cut that I may widen a little and put out a little no-till type food plot but that's about it. The place is full of mature oaks so there will be plenty of food for deer in good mast years as it is.

Just curious is this the same piece of property that you spoke of in your thread "TWO REALLY HOT TOMS". I read that thread after missing a bird on opening day so that very afternoon I decided to move my set up to a woods where I finally bagged a bird. While I was moving my blind I had a Gobbler sound off real close, so close it made the hair stand up on my neck. Good luck with your new property and thanks for that inspirational thread.
