Got my deer rifle finished up, last week, and slung some copper down range... I haven't had this much of a "big block grin" about anything since I picked up my CBR1100XX over 80k miles ago! This thing is a hoot to shoot! It's a: Rock River .458 SOCOM CAR upper Palmetto State Armory lower Spikes standard LPK with Bill Springfield trigger Hogue grip Magpul MOE stock with extended rubber buttpad Daniel Defense Burnsed Loop receiver end plate sling mount LaRue Tactical LT-104 VFZ mount Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 matte with LR reticle (and Butler Creek caps) Mags are standard mil-spec 30rd (hold 10rds of .458) with Magpul followers, and I just beveled the front of the mag. I didn't take any pictures, but I was very nearly clover-leafing 5-shot groups at 100yds from a bench. Well, pics don't seem to be working right now, so they are here: lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Jq3I3P9qCcE/T5f6rcK7zzI/AAAAAAAAA3w/zPkKe49O7q8/s800/IMAG1094-1.jpglh3.googleusercontent.com/-YhFJxwmvjYg/T5cKJTSXv7I/AAAAAAAAA3M/a7xxO0OjM18/s800/IMAG1095-1.jpgMike

Can't believe how much the look of "deer rifles" have changed over the years.

Can't believe how much the look of "deer rifles" have changed over the years. Me neither, and IMO, it's THE BEST thing for our 2A rights... "evil black rifles" are now (even more) in "common, widespread use" (think USSC Heller decision) as "Hunting rifles"... Mike

How much for the sight and where did you buy it from? The scope is a Leupold VX-1 3-9x40 LR reticle, matte. I got it last fall through my dad (FFL), when Leupold had them on sale. I think I paid ~$220 for it, said and done, but CTD has them for $227 + shipping: www.cheaperthandirt.com/7113876-1.htmlIf you're talking about the LT-104 VFZ mount, it was ~$150 and I got it from LaRue Tactical, direct. how does the recoil and noise compare to a 12 ga slug or 44 mag?

how does the recoil and noise compare to a 12 ga slug or 44 mag? It's pretty similar to a healthy 12ga slug out of a light, single shot field gun... Mike

If anyone is looking to buy a scope like that ,you might want to check out a gun auction site on the web. I bought 3 for less that 155.00 each. I got one foe 145.00. Thats what I mounted on mine as well. Nice setup by the way.
