Took a buddy with me and doubled on the 2 birds I mentioned in earlier posts. They didn't have any ground shrinkage luckily. Buddy got a double beard (10 3/4 & 4 1/2)with 1 1/4 spurs and I got a single 10 1/2 beard with 1 3/8 spurs. More details later - got birds to clean and beer to drink.

Long story but basically I have watched these birds for 6 days and had them pretty well figured out. They roosted along some rail road tracks then would make nearly a mile trek down the tracks or the field edge 30yds away(which was where I messed up that morning), then cross the road and feed through a freshly planted field and mans front yard then finally cross another road into the woods next to my home then finally return a few hours later. They did this exact thing 6 days straight and never more than 10yds apart. After watching them walk by me opening morning, me and a buddy went to find them again around 130 so we could setup for them. We saw them feeding in the woods still and decided to wait them out in the planted field. After talking to the property owner we setup in a covered bridge that crosses a small ditch in his field that I had seen the birds feed by everyday. So we sat- from 2 until 530 that evening- and finally saw them cross the road into his yard and start heading our way. Within about 5 minutes they came walking by at 45 & 50yds. Our plan came together and it was 1, 2, BOOM- and 2 birds were on the ground. Never been more satisfied with a turkey I've killed. I had glassed these birds as well as seen them up close for hours this week and really thought they were special birds. Really thought my bird had 1.5" spurs but I guess I can't complain about 1.375". Still my longest and a great double with the guy that got me turkey hunting and called in my first several.

Don't you just love it when a plan comes together? You earned those very nice birds. Heck of a couple brushes on them. Are they headed for Dean's?

If mine had the hooks I thought he did, he would have been mounted. I'll probably just hang the beard and spurs with rest and make a new fan for the Bmobile.
