Anyone here have experience clearing the "redirect" virus that seems to have been around the last few years.?
It finally caught me, and I'm having fits trying to clear it from my laptop. I have Vista, and use Google mostly, but it also affects my Bing searches.
The standard bugcathers (Malwarebytes and MS Essentials) can't seem to even find it, and the advice I've found so far online hasn't enabled me to get the job done. Been figting this thing for about a week now and can't seem to get to the root of it.
Couple of sites suggest Hitman Pro as a tool for this app, but my son (tech support) was unfamiliar with that device and couldn't advise.

flinter, thanks for the reply. Hope your experience was good with that program. I will try to download the free trial version tomorrow and run that. If it clears the bug, I'll go ahead and buy the year's subscription.

Russ-we just went through the same thing. After talking to some our IT people at Purdue and they found out that we were still running Windows XP their first response was that was part of the problem. We also had run CCcleaner, Spybot and various other malware but still couldn't get it cleared. So after making sure our laptop was going to be compatible with Win7 we switched and haven't had any problems since.
