The .380 in the pocket beats a 45 ACP left at home every time.

ive been shot in the head with a 22...all I got was a headache. Carry whatever makes you FEEL safe. Do a search on one shot stops with a handgun, you will find the 380 sorely lacking. It still has the intimidation factor and makes noise when shot, but its still just a step up from a rock. your opinion may vary

I've posted this on a couple sites and have come to conclusion I'd probably be better off with something else as a main gun. I'm going to check out the Ruger LC9 as soon as I can get the money and try Hornady Critical Defense for the .380 and keep it as a backup. Thanks guys.

I had a guy shoot at me with a 12g slug and miss. I didnt even get a headache from it .... all that does is prove that any round can fail as I said earlier. I would like to hear more about the 22 to the head though .... most importantly the range it was fired from and where exactly you were hit. In a defense situation I would say the vast majority of hits would be from a matter of a few feet .....

They featured defense rounds on last nights "Shooting Gallery" on the outdoor channel ... the 380 did pretty well.

Good to know Swilk. The Zombie Max did real good,a lot better than my reloads in fact. They shot 3 shots in about a 1" group at 10 yards . My reloads did about a 6" group .

I alternately carry either a Taurus 85 in .38 Special, or a Ruger LCP in .380 with laser sight, both loaded with jacketed hollowpoints. If you make me fire either at you you'll get a center mass full. At any distance under 100 feet accuracy kills with monotonous regularity.

oh all right. It happened on the trapline. I was in the process of dispatching an illmannered coon in trap. Shot him from about ten ft or less. Must have been a rock behind him cause I got a bounceback right to the outside edge of my eyesocket. literally saw stars for about ten minutes, head ache from hell the rest of the day. zero penetration luckily. Thought I shot my eye out at first.

Ouch! Lucky.
But......it went through a critter, bounced off a rock, hit you with a glancing blow and was still enough to make you see stars.
Imagine if you were actually shot with one.

I sold a 357 revolver to a fellow once when I worked in a retail store. He traded in a .22 LR 2 shot pocket gun. The reason was as follows. His wife was a nurse, worked at General in downtown Louisville. He went to pick her up one night whne she got off at midnight. He drove a station wagon, with electric windows. He was napping, and it being summer had the back wind down for air. He was rudely awaken by the noise and movement of a large black gentleman climbing into the car through the half open back glass. He gabbed is p-shooter and asked the nice man to leave. The guy decided not too, so the guy shot him, hitting him in the forehead at close distance. The fellow decided he had enough, climbed back out the window and ran down the street. Gone. The only reason he didn't buy a bigger handgun then was there was none considered more powerful than the 357 then.

I sure wouldn't use a .22. I've seen it a couple times in my life that the bullet wouldn't even go through a pop can .

My father chose that route.

Read it again, he used the .22 to shoot and that is why he traded it on the .357.
