Just picked up a new Kahr CM9 at my LGS this past friday. Today I detail stripped it all the way down. This was not as difficult as I had imagined it might be. Cleaned everything and used a lube point chart from Kahrtalk.com and got her put back together, lubed and ready for the range. Several Kahr owners recommend racking the slide 500 times after the initial cleaning and lube. I did it, but boy was it an arm workout! This gun is tight, but should break in nicely. The quality seems to be great, the size is perfect for me and conceals easily in my front pocket or IWB holster. Here's a pic of the CM9 all broken down and ready for cleaning...

Here's a pic of the Crimson Trace Laser Guard I installed after cleaning, lube and assembly. I really like how well the laser fits the CM9. Can't wait to stock up on some range ammo and run this gun through the live action break in! I will post how it does and any pros or cons when I get a chance to get down to the range soon. So far I am liking this little pocket pistol!

Forgot to mention that I found detailed strip instructions (with pics) on Glocktalk. That made it a whole lot easier for me to learn how to break the CM9 down and re-assemble it properly. Gotta love all the info available to us on the web.

What is the difference between the CM9 and the PM9?

What is the difference between the CM9 and the PM9? Very little. A few cosmetic things and the rifling of the barrel. Physical dimensions and weight are identical.

Here is a link describing the 6 major differences between the CM9 and the PM9: www.gunsamerica.com/blog/the-kahr-cm-9/And I'm impressed with the pics grey squirrel. Looking forward to the range report.

Very little. A few cosmetic things and the rifling of the barrel. Physical dimensions and weight are identical. Plus about $200. I think there's also minor differences in th trigger and linkage as well as minor differences in the slide internla. Kahr supposedly voids the warranty with reloads on all guns. That being said, the rifling in the PM series is polygonal, meaning you can't shoot cast bullets through it. You can in a CM.

Going to put the first 100 rounds thru her today. WWB 115 FMJ. Then give her another good cleaning. I have 300 rounds set aside for break in. Will update after firing the 100 later today.

What is the real world price running on this gun? Not the MSRP. Got me interested now.

I've seen Kahr CM9 prices as low as $370 online. I personally like to patronize my local shops. Most local shops around Indy are in the $420 to $450 range. Work with them and you can walk out with the gun for ~$400 and change.

When I called them, all they had was a CW9 by Kahr. The gun shop in Bright gave me what I wanted on a trade in to get the CM9 so that's why I purchased there.

Really thinking about getting another conceal pistol. I do like everything about the Kahr CM9 except the stainless slide. Just wonder why it is not offered in black, same as the lower part. For concealed the stainless seems to standout too much. Has anyone had theirs refinished or know of a way to have it refinished? Maybe silly on my part but would just like this pistol in all black and not two tone. New here hope I did this correctly.. Thanks in advance.

It may not be offered in black as a streamline measure at the factory. The more options that are offered at the factory, the more overhead they have and the less profit they are likely to make if they are offering the options at the same price point. But that's just a guess.
There are places to get the slide refinished. Oxford Armory can do a coating, I can get his contact information if you want. There are other places as well, but that's the first place that comes to mind for me. Never used them but have seen good results and good reports.

If it's concealed, then the slide won't be visible anyway....... I picked up a new one at the Nappanee gun show today. I've been wanting to get one for a while, and for just under $400 out the door it was a no brainer.
