If the rule stays on one or goes back to two, how will it effect you personally?
Better, worse or no change???

If it changes to a One Buck Rule I’ll do like I have the last 9 years. If I kill during the early archery season (most likely) I’ll take my deer hunting out of state the day after that buck hits the ground.
I can count on my fingers the numbers of days that I have gun hunted Indiana since the OBR started.
I don’t remember the last time I hunted the MZ season. Had to be 7 or 8 years ago,
If it goes back to two bucks I’ll hunt a lot more in Indiana.
This is a valid question but it is NOT a rehash of the thread we just went through on the pros and cons of the OBR versus the TBR.
Make it into another OBR debate and we will delete posts as off topic.
No problems with a an OBR debate, just start your own thread.. IF it degenerates like the other one it will be locked.

I currently have very little time to archery hunt, so one buck a year doesn't affect me much. With my youngest being three years from graduation, my time to bow hunt could increase dramatically in the near future.
Personally, I hope we go back to the tbr, or at least fix the license system.

If it stays OBR my hunting will remain the same.I hunt all the Deer seasons in which I am not a "BUCK ONLY" hunter.
My Hunting is not based on how many "BUCKS" I can kill to enjoy the sport or how many seasons/days I hunt to kill a "BUCK" only!!!

I get an extra buck in urban, so I usually shoot a "eater" buck and wait in regular season for a good one.
don't really matter about taking an extra buck to me,with all the doe tags, however I might take a 2.5 yr old scrub looking buck out the gene pool instead of a big doe, save her to increase and keep the herd levels

I think worst for were I hunt and live there is not all that many deer here in my area. Myself even if I could take two bucks I would not unless I hunted a park hunt or something along that line.

i would probally start archery hunting in indiana if it would go to 2 bucks. being that i am out of state and have to buy 3 tags to hunt all seasons as it is now i just opt for the firearms tag. plus i am not going to shoot any does at 150 bucks for the tag. that is total bs when i can shoot 20 for that price in my home state!

I'd take the first eater buck I saw and then hold out for a large one after that. Does hit the ground. Only have a week to hunt. I have eaten $150 buck tag soup letting a small one walk and then not getting a good shot at at larger buck the rest of the week.

I only shoot bucks and I don't care if the antler is less that 3". I shoot all I can eat.

Hello, My name is Racktracker and I am a buckaholic.
There is nothing more exciting than hunting a mature buck in his own backyard. I'm usually tagged out by gun season and since two deer is about all we can eat I might hit the late season to shoot an antlerless deer, maybe. It's doe shooting, not doe hunting in my area. Other than that me and my $24 second buck tag sit it out or I head south to a friend's property in Kentucky. That costs me close to $200 but well worth it to again hunt a mature buck and shoot a doe as it is a twofer license. Something Indiana should consider.
If the state went back to two bucks I'd save that Kentucky money and stay home.
Knowing the DNR as well as I do, that wont happen.

I hunt Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee.
So, I can take 5 Bucks per year right now.
IN, and KY have 1 Buck Rules, TN has a 3 Buck Rule.
If IN goes to a two Buck rule, then I will be able to take 6 Bucks per year, lol

Personally won't take 2, but we have a small property and of course I'd like to see my boys each take a deer next season, buck or doe. (would I take 2 if I was the only one hunting and legal? not sure, but I have a few years to ponder that, if they allow 2 then). And I admit I like a clean rack with no droptines or obscene amount of tines, can I order a typical 8 or 10 pointer for next season? lol. But if it's a good shot it's going to be dinner (as long as the spots are gone), I'm not going to repeat only one deer in the freezer like this winter.

In more recent years, earlier in the season I have passed on bucks that don't meet a certain standard. I don't go by inches of antler, but the rack does need to be above the average of my recent bucks. So, I'd shoot the first such deer I could. After that I'd only shoot a buck that's clearly better than the one I already have.

If it changes to a TBR, I will go back to tagging cull-bucks with poor genes instead of passing on them & waiting for a bigger-racked mature rascal with good genes. I will continue to fill my bonus antlerless tags as usual.

It will really depend on how the freezer looks in the later part of the year so it's hard to say.

Would have been nice two seasons ago when the 5 pointer came through right under the stand during bow season. He had 4 on one side and one straight dagger on the other. I would have taken him out of the herd in a heartbeat if we had two buck tags. I think that I would only use two tags if given the chance at a nice buck and a cull.
I think that a lot more hunters would shoot a cull buck if they had the spare tag rather than just let it walk because they were after a "real shooter". I doubt if many (myself included) would burn their one and only buck tag to take out a cull buck.

One buck, my area doesn't have enough deer to support everyone being able to shoot 2.

I guess it would depend.
Obviously if it stayed OBR things would stay the same as they have for the last several years.
If it went to some sort of TBR ....
My farm is relatively small so unless I was the only guy hunting it on a particular year I do not think I would kill more than one buck there .....
If I were to kill a buck on my farm and then decided to keep hunting for antlers I would move on to other property I have permission to hunt.
I can kill a doe just about any time I go out ..... and I dont eat more than two deer over the course of a year so meat is not a driving factor for me.
Bow season is mine. I usually hunt alone and hunt a whole bunch. When gun season rolls around I shift my focus to my dad .... making sure he goes, is comfortable, in the best spots. Even if I killed a buck in early archery I cannot see going anywhere else when gun season rolls around. I would go hunt with dad and forget about the antlers.
My wife is wanting to give bowhunting a try this year. My oldest daughter is almost old enough to gun hunt with me.
So many things are changing in my life ... in the way I hunt ... I just dont know what impact, if any, a tbr would have.
I dont know .... Ill let ya know how it effected me after it happens.
