A month ago or so, I was cleaning my Ruger Mark III 22/45 and I made the terrible decision to completely disassemble the gun for cleaning. I have never even removed the barrel and bolt so I figured that it was time. Well once I was inside, everything was filthy so I cleaned everything up very well. The reassembly was an absolute nightmare and it took me 6 hours to get it back together and every function check failed. I put the cleaning turned "project" on hold until tonight. It took me two more hours tonight with step by step directions and pictures to get it right. What a frustrating experience!! ;D At least she is clean and ready to run again!

ROFLMAO! I've taken my MK II apart a couple of times, so I feel your pain. I think every time, regardless of how much I try to remember how things go back in I'm always grabbing the computer when I'm putting it back together. Even simply removing the upper receiver and barrel can be a hassle to put back together.... Completely disassembling the internals in the lower is the stuff nightmares are made of. This is the site I seem to always use: www.1bad69.com/ruger/index.htm

I usually try and lay parts out in the order they go back. Most of the time this works but not always and I end up on the net looking for a parts diagram. h.h.

I need to tear down my P22 soon as well. Could this be the second chapter in the nightmarish trilogy that I am writing, producing, and directing?! Seriously, is the P22 an animal to completely take down and reassemble as well? ;D

That's where a digital camera really comes in handy. Take pictures of every step of disassembly.
The last time I used mine for something like that was a long belt on a snow thrower. The picture really came in handy when they had to order the belt and it was at least 2 weeks later when I had to re-assemble it.

This thread reminds me of a long time ago, I was probably only 11 or 12. I decided to take my Ted Williams .22 semi auto apart. I took the trigger mechanisim out and decided to pull the trigger, BIG MISTAKE, the whole thing just kind of exploded sending little springs and pins all over the room. It took me the better part of a week to find all the parts and get it back together.
