Anyone out there besides me? I like chasing them the best once I am done with deer season. Its actually very relaxing and I have an amazing population in the woods I hunt. I am starting to look foward to it actually. The nicest thing is that there is nothing you need besides a gun and a knife and there is no pressure at all.

Yep I love going late season for them. Makes a good ending to my hunting season and gets some meat in the freezer.

I like late season Squirrel Hunting. Like to catch them sunning themselves on a limb.

I keep thinking I'd be better off squirrel hunting rather than deer hunting. I know there would be days that I would be bringing home more eatin'.

I see far more Squirrels, sitting in ladder stand, than I do while hunting on the ground.

For squirrel or deer? Since the only thing I have so far is a medium size doe the freezer still has room....

dadfsr .. squirrel hunting during deer season? With less deer hunters in the woods it maybe OK to do a little squirrel hunting during deer M/L season.

You are not alone! What part of the state do you live in? I have several woods that need some serious limbrat reduction programs. Thanks, kevin

This weekend may sneak into the woods for a quick hunt with a .22 long rifle. It may be interesting in the snow or they may den up and be outta sight...

If it's sunny, look for the Squirrels on limbs as they like to sun themselves this time of the year.

One of the things I loke to do when Deer hunting is to shoot Squirrels. I take some field points and from the tree stand, stick them into squirrels on the ground that are foraging nuts that time of year. The deer don't care and the arrows are sticking up like flags hit one or not!

Going out in the morning with my 15 yr old. He loves the Ruger 77/17 I got when they first came out. I also love it...so much so that I got a 14" pistol barrel for my Contender so that is what I will be using tomorrow.
We do love the 17 HMR!!! No quaking, no shaking, no waiting to drop...bang!!...plop. And we can get them at really good distances without the kids having to work so hard at trying to figure out the bullet drop.

Going out Sat with my son and my friend and his dau (first time hunter for her). Hopefully we'll bag a few .... want her first hunt to be successful. But no matter what we'll make it fun for her.

Today was the day!!!
Went out with my 15 yr old this mornig - 8am - noon...got our limit and saw qhuite a few we couldn't get clean shots on. Seemed like every squiirel we saw today was in a hurry to get somewhere.
Blooded my contender 17HMR pistol for the first time!! And with a full limit to boot!!

Totally different for my group. Nothing moving. Last time I was at that location it was a Tree Rat Highway. Glad you had a good day SS. Let maybe I will try again after church.
