The CO down here told one of my friends he better get his out last year, and he said they werent his. He said you better go get them, In other words he was telling him ,he could take someone elses stand if they were left on state land after the date thhey were suppose to be removed. I never new there was a date to remove them til then. By the way he didnt take them

No screw-in steps, or over 1/2" teeth penetration less you want additional fines on government ground treestands.

Was scouting the other day, there are a bunch of stands still on Fairbanks FWA. Always are though, you can't expect a CO to walk everybit of 8000 acres and get em all.

Sounds like a good oppurtunity for the DNR to make some bucks - have a yard sale. Sell a ticket, allowing each holder to one stand, all they have to do is locate and remove.

I believe that the ones that they take down without returning to the owner along with a ticket gets sold at auction.

I'd told him that someone stole your tags off your stands earlier this year, that stand doesn't belong to you. And thats exactly what i would tell the court.

Hovey Lake FW, will tell you that if you don't come get your stand, its open for anyone to take them. The FW area's don't want your stands, its just a hassle for them. If they can get someone else to do their jobs for them, so be it.

So in addition to commiting fish and wildlife violations and posting on here how you wanted to punch the CO now you are telling someone to commit perjury.

I just think that getting a ticket for it was a bit excessive. I guess i thought maybe a warning would have been better. Sure makes me wish i hadnt put my name on it. The stand is a piece of crap.

Dunno.....looks like a stupid law that needs to be struck from the books. So, what if you wanted to bird watch from a tree stand or turkey hunt from there? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) It's not like some take in a bunch of boards and nails them to a tree. where's the crime?

Who is supposed to take unclaimed tree stands down if you the person that put it up doesn't. If people don't remove tree stands every year from state owned land then folks would put tree stands up everywhere just to claim hunting rights. There is enough trash left in the woods every year no need to leave stands up. This isn't private property.

Frankly, you don't have much trouble finding someone to take them down these days, happens all the time.

Well the crime is in the fact that state law doesn't allow it. The state is in the business of selling timber and trees with treestands grown into them don't have much value.

Illegal is Illegal period i anyone breaks the law expect the appropriate ticket or punishment its that simple the laws are made for everyone to fallow .If your speeding you cant say you were expecting a warning ticket .Also the tree stand law is out there to keep hunters from claiming the same area or tree year after year .
Means you/hunters have to work for it a bit every season its also to keep guys from killing themselves or someone else on a stand that should come out of the woods and be checked every year,it also stops them from digging into the tree too deep with the chain.
