My brother and myself designed the 358 GRANT and the 358 GRANT 1.8". Our gunsmith is making his version of the 1.8". They are based on the WSM case. He will have barrels, brass, and dies. Here is his contact info. Mark Penrod/ Penrod Precision (260)-982-8385 E-mail: markpenrod@kconline.com
He has built several of rifles for us and does perfect work. You will not find a better gunsmith.

What bullets have you tested?, what pressures and velocity are you getting? What kind of range are you expecting? What guns is he making barrels for?
I live over between Salem and Henryville
Thanks Lonny

I would say that the only bullets you are probably going to get to hold together in the .358 WSM are Barnes and other premium bullets. The .358 WSSM already runs the upper limits of what most conventional bullets will take and perform well with a short impact distance. That is the reason I am staying with the .358 WSSM and not getting them chambered up to the .358 WSM.

Looks like they are claiming 2800fps with a 225 gr. bullet from this one? And 3000 with 200 gr. bullets

There is only about 2 grains of powder difference in the two older versions of BFG and the Grant with the Grant holding more powder. If you have a 358 wildcat now i see no reason to build a newer 1.8 version unless of course you just want to tinker. h.h.

Will be using 225 Accu-Bonds mostly. Have not did any work myself yet, but 2 other good sources have. One is getting 2800 with 225 gr and the other just under 3000 with 200 gr. Pressures are different with each gun. You have to work up a load for each rifle to get the best out of it. We have shot 180 Hot cores out of the 358 GRANT @ 2950 work like a v-max even in the rib cage. And yes I have A.D.D. and get bored and have to tinker

Couple of dumb questions. What is the range with this? How does it compare to the 358wssm in range and ammo price?
Thanks
