I have followed Woody's quest for a compact 9mm for sometime now and I originally didn't know much about Kahr, except for the fact that they were of a single stack design. I recently sold a Kel-tec P3AT and I have shot a PF-9, so I am familiar with that line of pistol. I knew that I wanted a 9mm, so I looked at the LC9 from Ruger as well and a week ago my brother law came over with a Kahr CW40 and I got to shoot it. Once I was able to hold one, take one down, and shoot it I was sold on the design. I just ordered it today from Bud's Gun Shop and I plan on carrying IWB. I am familiar with the CM9 offering as well, but I have huge hands and wanted something slightly larger than my former Kel-tec P3AT. I am now researching different holsters for IWB carry for this gun and I am eager to speed through the 200 round break in period. I haven't felt right since I sold my only carry gun, so I pushed this purchase through as quickly as the wife would tolerate!

After fondling an LC9 last weekend, there's no comparison between it and my CW9. The trigger is night and day better on the Kahr- and that's saying something considering they are both double action only. I enjoy my CW quite a bit, it goes with me to the range every trip. I have yet to carry it (I still need to get my permit here.... ), but I think it will be a bit difficult to conceal effectively without winter clothes- especially IWB. I haven't tried many different holsters though, there may be one that will work better than others. The IWB holster I have is a DeSantis, it works but to me the grip sticks up above the waist line too far and will easily print if you bend over at the waist. I may either modify the holster or try to find a different one. I like my CW9 enough that I'm seriously considering buying a CM9. I'm not going to buy one right away, but if the finances allow it in a couple of months I'll probably do it. FWIW, the mags for a CW9 will work in a CM9.

I brought the gun home this afternoon and I must say for being less than $400 new OTD, the fit and finish is amazing. ;D I broke down the gun to clean it and the machining and tight tolerances really impressed me! I am hoping to send some rounds down range on Sunday and I have a good feeling that this will be a keeper....

Did you take apart the slide to get to the firing pin? If not, wait until you do that to comment on the tolerances! Mine is so tight I have to fight to get it apart. Despite what Kahr says about not dis-assembling the slide, you'll want to do it every couple hundred rounds. The first time I took mine apart I couldn't believe just how dirty it was. Throw EVERY type of ammo at it you can during the break-in. If it's going to have a hiccup, it will be during the break-in. The one thing that has caused me issues is not getting the last round fully seated in the mag. That's an operator error, not the fault of the gun. Even though Kahr says reloads will void the warranty, I get excellent accuracy from mine using a plinking load of a Berry's plated 124 gr HP pushed by 7.5 gr of AA #7.

Well I finally hit the 100 round mark today and I am pleased with the gun to this point. It has a smooth trigger, its reliable, easy to shoot, and all that I could want in a single stack 9mm design. My crossbreed mini tuck wont be in until next month, so it will give me a chance to put another 100 to 200 rounds through it before I start to carry it.
