Was just reading the deer numbers poll and have heard the anterless quota mentioned as being too high. Just wondering how many deer people are shooting per year and how many are anterless. I shot 3 does this year. One in Fountain County with my bow and 2 in Nebraska with my rifle.

I saw plenty of deer while I was in the woods, but it was mostly does. The bucks were around, but they were cruising at night.

1 BUCK. The rest of the time was sitting with my boy, in hopes he would get to connect on one. Had I been by myself, normally 2-3 doe in the freezer.

Are you asking Indiana deer only? Answer the poll as total, but give us a summary of where you shot them, age, sex, weapon, etc. Thanks for responses everyone!

I had an awful deer season this year !! I did see quite a few deer, but just didnt manage to get within range of any of them in order to take a shot, and I didnt get nearly as many chances to get out in the woods at all this year....
I saw more bucks this year than does to be honest most were 1-2 yr olds good body size with small racks (which doesnt matter to me) and one really nice BIG bodied 8 point, I saw prolly 10 does, 3 of which I thought I had patterned on the new property I gained permission on this year, but I just never was able to close the distance & get a deer in bow range...
Well other than a 4 pointer out of my ground blind the first evening I set it up & of course he noticed something was "new" in his area before I had time to shoot him....so I still didnt manage to take him, lol....
Most of the problem I experienced was just lack of time in the woods, and I had to do all of my scouting while hunting this year since I didnt gain permission on the private land I hunted until after the beginning of bow season, then I wasted alot of time hunting the mornings on the property when it apparently is solely an evening area....
Its just over 100 acres of property w/ 40 acres of that being wooded & the rest is corn (that idnt get hearvested until after firerams season), surrounded by another 380 private acres (all woods) that I could not get permission to hunt but was granted permission to retireve a downed deer if it ran over there.
Also had to deal with two other hunters on the property, meeting with, getting to know, & befriending in order to work around when & where they were hunting etc. In the long run Im very prepared for next season but had nothing to show for all the hard work I put in this year !
I did however enjoy every moment of each of my hunts, managed to make a couple new friends, got a great private property hunting spot (which I didnt before), set up a few blinds, scouted extensively, and made arrangements to move & hang a few stands w/ the other hunters for all of us to use, and now know a lot more about the deer pattern on the property !!!
All in all it was still a good deer season but Im already missing the lack of deer meat in the freezer, the jerky & summer sausage, not too mention the breakfast sausage & steaks Im usually enjoying around this time LMAO ! Hopefully next year will be better for the freezer !
God Bless...... ~INDeerhunter~

11 pointer and three doe in Indiana during 1st week of gun season. Saw 3 bucks and 9 doe. 4 of us hunting the farm saw a total of 51 deer. Mostly bucks. I used my .308 Encore pistol in Indiana. Came back and had double hernia surgery. Hunted the last day here in the mountains and killed a cow horn spike and skinned, deboned, and gave the meat to the land owner. 270 rifle.

Shot a 4 point on opening morning of gun season with a .358 wssm rifle, saw 1 more buck during gun season , no does, no other deer. Hunted hard but these were the only two deer I saw during all the different seasons on the main property I hunt. I saw two deer in Orange county during Muzzy season a buck and a doe but no shot oportunity on the doe. That forkie was probably one and a half years old. Lowest number of deer sighted in a long time. Only killed one doe in last two seasons on this property.

I killed 3 does, and 2 bucks. I killed a public land buck, and I killed a buck at Newport. One of my does was at Newport as well.
I hunt Orange, Martin, Lawrence, Johnson, Morgan, Monroe, Putnam, Owen and Tippecanoe counties.
Most with my .54 Knight rifle. The big public land buck was with a bolt action sabot shooting shotgun.

I put 2 antlerless in my freezer with the bow. I also put 3 more antlerless into the freezers of 3 families from my church, one with a .358 WSSM and two with muzzleloaders. So, 5 total for me from 3 different spots.
My wife also added her buck to bring the family total to 6 for the year.
