Heres another picture of my friend from Michigan and I on a hare hunt in the U.P. of Michigan. This hunt was in Dec and the snow was 3-4 foot deep. We were running 8 dogs on this hunt. If you have never been on showshoes the first few days your calf muscles feel like they are going to fall off. lol Hare are a long and lanky compared to cottontail which are more meatier but prepared right hare tastes delicious. h.h.

You ain't kiddin about walkin in those snow shoes......We go to Northwest Wisconsin 3-5 times a year October to March. You will get a workout like no other on those snowshoes.
Where do you go in Wisconsin?? Michigan??
I have been around Ishpeming and Marquete area in Mich and all over from Eau Claire to Duluth in Wisconsin.
I love to get the dogs on those hare after a season of cottontails!!!!!

In Michigan usually around Pickford and I used to go to Beaver Island. I have a friend who lives in the Keewanaw Peninsula that i go sometimes. I hunted in 5 foot snow there one March. Defiantly learned to stay away from pine tree tops peaking out of the snow when the snow is that deep. In Wisconsin i hunt north of Stevens Point. I haven't been up in a few years and might go this year if fuel prices don't go out of sight. h.h.

not enought meat for all that work! I'm lazy i suppose Looks like to me that it is the hunt and fellowship that counts, not the amount of meat.

I agree.
Meat is not the ultimate goal.
Having fun and fellowship beats a hunk of rabbit meat any day of the week.
The taste of hare will be long forgotten, but a memory lives forever.
