esshup What bullet are you shooting that has a bc of 0.9? Even VLDs I have found are closer to 0.6.
Also, what's your chambering to get a 200 grainer up to 3200fps?
Just curious.

It's a custom made rebated boattail bullet made by Wildcat Bullets. The cartridge is a 7mm Allen Magnum, which is based on the .338 Lapua which has it's shoulder blown forward, and has less of a body taper. It holds roughly 10% more powder than the parent cartridge. Kirby Allen is the gunsmith. With his medium painkiller muzzlebrake, it's recoil is about equivalent to my .243. The rifle, sans scope weighs a hair under 10#. 28" barrel. 110g of powder.

I hate muzzle breaks and wouldn't recommend them. Better not be beside someone who touches off one with a muzzle break, will ring your ears good. Guides hate them.

I hate muzzle breaks and wouldn't recommend them. Better not be beside someone who touches off one with a muzzle break, will ring your ears good. Guides hate them. They might even break your eardrums. That's why I wear hearing protection, I value my hearing. With a well designed brake, the muzzle blast is directed away from the shooter, so the shooter doesn't bear the brunt of the blast. It also helps direct the noise away from the shooter. Some testing was done, and when downrange, the shooters position could be detected with a non-muzzlebraked rifle, while a rifle with a brake wasn't detected. Not a silencer, "can" or muffler, a muzzlebrake. If you shoot enough big stuff, for any length of time, you'll get to appreciate them. Without the muzzlebrake, the recoil velocity is 14.2 ft/sec and the recoil energy is 34.2 ft-lbf. o this rifle. With the brake it's near 8.6 ft/sec and 9.1 ft-lbf. If I was a guide, I would prefer my client to have a brake and hit what he was shooting at vs. not having a brake and missing because of the recoil induced flinch. I don't take it to a public range, it's pointless to shoot it at distances that public ranges offer. Like taking your 30-06 and shooting groups at 25 yds with it.
