I shot about 15. Didn't take many as their numbers were down. How about you guys? I only bagged four Squirrels this past season. I normally bag 25! 2005 is the WORSE Squirrel season I've ever seen!

i shot four one day and two on another day and quit because i thought the squirrel population was down. if mange was the problem last year then it might be again with this record warm January. h.h.

"Hornharvester", I haven't seen any cases of the mange so far this year. I am starting to see a few more Squirrels though and keeping my fingers crossed for a better season in August. We had an excellent (Too excellent) mast crop this past year so their food supply is up and their population should be up as wel. Lot of young Squirrels this season!

Oh no, here we go again. Turkeyscout, I only paid you enough money to brag on me once, not twice. So if you are expecting extra money for the second time you might be out of luck. Although, I do admit I can hear real well. Either that or you couldn't hear a dumptruck driving through a nitroglycerin plant. The Dr's say it is because I am blind in one eye and i'm more aware with other senses. Funny thing is, my wife says I don't hear well at all. Not sure who to believe.
As far as squirrels, I didn't kill one this season. I have a son who does the killing for me now. So I am only the teacher and squirrelscout, which is as much fun as shooting them myself.

I'm far from the brightest guy in the world, but I am guessing that if you make it out as many times this year as you did last year, the new .22 won't kill any more squirrels than your old one. Again, thats just a hypothesis.

Super hearing and super smart. I guess some are blessed with good looks and others are just like you! Dang my luck I missed the whole boat.
It's just a good reason to burn some powder in the back yard. Which I did yesterday and believe my newer .22 with a red dot scope will be more then suffecient to take a tree rat or two. Actually I set it up for coon hunting, I went with my bro in law last season and used his .22 set up with a regular scope and I had a heck of a time seeing eyes, so I figured the red dot would be the trick. It was putting the cheap rounds in a pretty consistently tight group for me yesterday. More practice will confirm it.

I shot 11, and I spread that around between 6 properties so I wouldn't impact them too bad. Stir fry just wouldn't have been the same without em...
