Whatever became of this IN buck killed a few years ago. A true world class deer. Did all the internet BS that comes with killing a buck of this caliber KILL this bucks proper recognition it deserved. I heard the rack was traded for a new truck and a new ATV. That was the last I knew of the situation on this truly rare caliber of deer.

I think he was driven into secrecy. I saw it at my taxidermists shop that year but he took it underground because of internet crap and rumors.

I think he was driven into secrecy. I saw it at my taxidermists shop that year but he took it underground because of internet crap and rumors. What I heard the young man still has the buck. He got tired of outdoor writers hounding him for pictures and the story along with a group trying to contact him numerous times to use it in a " measuring seminar". The "trade for a pickup and ATV" was a made up story to get them off his butt. Not sure if he even does the Internet forums. My guess is no. Pretty sad really...

The hunter lives in my hometown. This is a true world class deer but beleive me, the right pose from just about any "GOOD" buck can make him look "HUGE". I have seen some photos on other Hunting sites and you'd swear the buck was 200" then when the hunter posted the score you realize that the buck was just a good one. Not saying that this Morgantown buck isn't awesome...Just saying you can't beleive everything you see in a photo. PS...I don't blame this hunter one bit for wanting his privacy. JEALOUSY IS A MIGHTY POWERFUL THING.

If I ever kill a monster buck I think I would wrap it in a tarp before I take it to check it in so no one could see it. And, I wouldn't let anyone take a cell phone picture of it.

You can say what you want, but I sure think it was one weird situation. The fella that shot the deer didnt even check it in, had his dad do it!
Come on man! It's a world class deer, nothing to be ashamed of ..... why didnt he step forward and take the credit ?

It was a great Buck for sure.
But, I heard it had a net score in the 190's Typical.
So it still needed over 20 inches to be a Record.

Don't blame the guy one bit. Most all, including me, would LOVE to get a buck like that but I would show it to the guys I hunt with, bring it home, show it to the couple of relatives and close friends, and take it to the taxidermist shop. I love to hunt for many reasons but getting in a book isn't one of them. Nothing to prove to anyone but myself. The guys I hunt with are tickled if I get a good 'un and i am for them. Wouldn't even think about putting it in a "record book". I shot a buck in the 140's in the mountains which is huge for here. Field dressed 137#. You wouldn't believe the rumors. People claimed I had to shoot it at night because a deer that big couldn't be killed in daylight. One claimed to my BIL that he saw me dragging it across a field two weeks before the season opened. One guy actually called me a liar about getting it legal in front of my young son and I had to ask him to step outside for a good old fashioned whooping. He sat down and apologized. Instead of being happy for me that huge Jealousy over antlers came out. Unreal. Bigger antlers does not make a man any better than the other but people go crazy. For the record, I shot it two days before the season closed at 9:30 am on public land and many saw it that day fresh. To each their own.
