It has been a tough season so far with the bad weather and lack of deer sightings. It all changed today and I finally shot a nice buck. It is an 8 point with a 21 inch spread and weighs 175 lbs.

Congrats, good looking buck, like those brow tines. What was the weapon of choice and where did you hit him at?

Nice deer, Bad shirt. Just Kidding I went to school at Forest Park. Just an old shirt I don't mind getting dirty. I coached football at Crawford in 2005 and 2009. I did apply for the FP football job so maybe I will be a Ranger soon.

This morning I saw a couple does, a fawn and a small buck on a piece of property we own in the southern part of the county. On our way back to my dad's place which is 200 acres I asked him if we could maybe try to make a drive. He has a dry pond in the middle of his pasture where does bed a lot of the time and we need to shoot several off his farm. He drops me off and I walk over to the fence row and try to decide whether I should cross the fence or stay in the woods. I hear him pulling up the driveway and get out of the truck to start his walk across the field to the pond. I called him and asked whether I should cross the fence or stay in the woods. As soon as I am done talking a buck stands up 20 yards away out of some thick briars and tall grass. I tell him to hold on for a second and raised my gun and shot the deer. I got back on the phone and told him I just shot the biggest buck of my life. It was an awesome experience and it was even better to share it with my dad.
