I dropped my first deer Saturday morning in Sullivan County. I thought it was a doe, but turns out it was a button buck, so I can always say my first deer was a buck...

How did that feel? I remember walking up on my first one. WOOOOOOOOO! I was texting a friend after I shot and I was shaking so bad I could hardly type. I fixed the inner straps, I guess that is what they are, for lunch yesterday and they were very tender and tasty. I'm still hoping to fill my buck tag, but I've only seen one, a fork six that I passed in hopes of seeing something bigger, and that was the opening day of shotgun season. I'm hoping they are moving a little better the rest of this week. It seems they are still nocturnal in my spots.

I don't know why, just what we've called them forever. They make a really good pulled venison BBQ. Congrats on your first deer!! It's a great feeling, and the first is always the hardest one. At least it was for me.

Thanks again to everyone for the congrats.
