Mine is a Savage Mark II. It has a bull barrel which makes it a tad heavy but its a shooter. It will group almost any ammo the size of your pinky nail at 50 yds. My two favorite rounds are CCI Mini-Mags and Remington Thunderbolts. I use the Thunderbolts to hunt squirrels with. I made a jig and use a file to make them blunt points. Makes them look like semi-wad cutters. They really thump a squirrel.
My second choice is a Stevens .410 that Ive had for over 45 years. 3" #4's will drop them squirrels right out of a tall tree.
So whats you favorite gun? h.h/

I shoot a Ruger 77/22 all weather synthetic and stainless. It likes Rem subsonics. My used to be favorite was a .32 Tenn mountain rifle caplock. But old eyes don't let me use it any more.

Three Favorite Squirrel Gun here: (1) CZ-452 in .22 LR (CCI Mini-Mags H.P.) Have a 4-power Weaver Rimfire scope on it. (2) Kimber Of Oregon M-82 in .22 Hornet With 3-9 Weaver Scope. I use loaded down ammo in this rifle for Squirrels. Very accurate and non-destructive! (3) An Old Winchester Model 43 Bolt Action in .25-20 Win. With 4-power Weaver mounted. VERY accurate and non-destructive on Squirrels even with factory S.P. 86 gr. ammo! I also use a Stoeger Model "Uplander" S/S in .410 3" loaded with #5 shot.

Marlin bolt action topped with a 4X32 scope. I like shooting the Remington Yellow Jackets out of it. I am starting to use my .22/45 Mark II with open sights as well...

i use a old .22 bolt action, model 144 mossberg (paid 59 dollars back in the 70"s )with a 2x7 leopold scope, ammo is american eagle hollow points. a tack driver on sand bags, clean shots on greys and fox squirrels .makes a good meal of squirrel ,biscuits and gravy. my grand son is starting out with a 870- 20 gauge remington , till he gets to be a better shot(he"s 13 now, been hunting squirrels for three years). he"s still plinking at small targets and learning gun safety with his .22 remington ,model 514. single shot bolt action with a tasco 4 power scope. turkey scout good luck

Like Schoolmaster, I shoot a Ruger 77/22 all weather stainless. Been using the CCI standard rounds, but it seems to shoot anything good. Topped with a Simmons 3x9, it's a real squirrel head buster.
Grandaddy always used to give us heck if we took a shotgun, or made anything but head shots on our squirrels.

In the past I've used a Remington nylon 66 and before that a Montgomery Wards single shot .410 !!

Marlin 39M. My dad gave it to me years ago, so for that reason alone it is my favorite. I do have a Savage in .17 HMR that will be used soon. Occasionally use a 12 ga. Ithaca or Rem. 870. I have a TVA made custom .40 muzzleloader that needs to be used too.

A CZ 452 Ultra Lux. It has a 29in. barrel, and a 3x9 AO Sightron scope. I shoot RWS subsonics and it's quiet and deadly accurate.

first success last weekend with the NEF .410................................. some day i would like to save up for a double barrel stoeger "uplander".............. www.stoegerindustries.comseason below US 40 is about to go out................so i look to get out again this weekend. the thing that made me successful last weekend: instead of tromping around................i resorted to deer hunting tactics...............found a good place. sat down. waited for the forest to settle down............and here they come ! camoham
