I missed the biggest 8 I've ever dropped the hammer on. He had an extremely wide rack. The thing came in behind me and to my left; never seen one come in that way before, ( of course )I didn't realize he was there until he was ~45yds out, saw him and a few seconds later he stopped and blew - winded and busted big time. Had to act now! I swung over and put the scope on him and shot. He took off at the same time and all I found at the shoot site was a fair amout of white hair, looked around in the direction he ran off in for blood but nothing. He could have been on the rise as I shot or I could have pulled it - who knows; anyways looks like all I did was remove some hair. Man this bites.

Been there, I feel your pain. Probably nicked the brisket. You probably did right, that was a now or never deal and you reacted. I probably would have had my mouth hanging open for a second or two. It probably doesn't help but I wish you had got him!
