I jumped into a stand this evening after work and after about 30 minutes, I saw a deer about 60 yards away. I watched it for a bit as it worked it's way in the other direction, still unsure if it were a buck or a doe. The deer turned right around like they do and started heading right towards me. I initially thought that it was a doe, but soon realized that it was a 6 point buck. He went behind a tree blocking me from sight and I stood up and attached my release to my string. He popped out to the left and offered me a textbook, perfect broad side shot at 15 yards and just stood there looking at something on the ground for about 30 seconds. I realized for the first time that I had no interest in shooting this deer or any young buck! I stood and watched him walk away and I am pleased with the decision to wait for a larger buck. Once it got dark I heard several, much larger deer running around me crashing into stuff! The big boys are getting frisky...

Every successful hunt doesn't end up with a kill. I am large buck hunting only right now. Tonight I had a doe broadside at 10 yards. She is still walking.

Did the same 2 weeks ago. Watched 5 (4 does & 1 small buck) mill around the stand from 30-8 yards with no interest in shooting one. When I am ready or the right one shows I will take em!
Saw a big dude at 1PM today on Crane. Big 8 pointer....BIG and perfect w/mass and dark rack. Would look great on a wall! Saw 3 does as I was getting some firewood into the house a bit later. Looking forward to the hunt in the morning. The little bit of wind should be perfect for the spot I have picked out.
