20 gauge with 2 3/4" squirrel/rabbit shells, 6 shot. Factory full choke. Works great year after year. It's a real snood-slapper from the muzzle all the way out to 20 yards!

Now THAT is a paint brush and a half on that gobbler! thanks!the beard was really pretty short for as thick as it is, my friend said it likely froze off or was eaten by some kind of mite.

I shoot a Benelli Nova (28" barrel black matte finish) Hasting .640 Choke Federal #5 3.5" shell I have the Tri-Viz Fiber Optic Sights Patterns well at 40 yards 30+ BBs in kill zone. Smacked my bird at 38 step last season, a true jelly head when I got done...

I use an old beat up custom camo (compliments of Rustolem and me) Mossberg 500 pump gun that kicks like a galled mule with a 24" barrel with the extra full choke tube with a brass bead that I painted bright red for a sight. Federal 3" shells #5 shot. This fine set up has been putting them down for me the last 20 years. Its been dropped in creeks, slid down more spoil banks than I care to think about, used as a walking stick to get up the other side of the spoils and it still works fine. It ain't a pretty gun, but she thinks she is. Before I retired Her from deer hunting she even left her mark on a few deer. I use a muzzle loader now for the entire firearms season now. I bought a new 835 Mossberg 3-1/2" turkey gun when they first came out, but that thing felt like I was packing a 50 pound bazooka in the woods and it like to got me down. I got rid of it and never looked back. I laugh when I go into Gander Mountain and see the super thumb hole custom Real Tree camo 1,000$ turkey slayer guns. I do have much nicer shot guns than that old 500, but when I get serious my old 500 whats slung over my shoulder!! I will keep her until I die

It was frozen or broken off. If it were mite eaten it would have a rusty brown color....killed out of state beards with the mite or beard rot as it is called that looks cool being so short IMO!

I shot this gun last night, the patterns at 20-45 yards are unbelivable!!!
I would feel very confident taking a 40 yard shot with this combination.
I am going to have to reconsider taking the 835 instead of the trusty 870 this year...
GUN mossberg 835
CHOKE tru glo Gobbler Stopper choke tube
SHELL 3.5" winchester supremes #5 shot
