Does anyone have this gun or have any opinions on it? I am thinking about getting one for Christmas. I would like a small carry semi-auto, preferably a 9mm. I like taurus, and I will only have around $300 to spend.

There are far too many issues with their customer service for me to ever consider one.

I have the same gun in .40
Has gone bang without issue each and every time I have asked it to for the last 6 years.
I have not put many rounds through it though .... it is strictly a "strap it the pack" and carry it while bowhunting gun.

It's not the warranty it's just dealing with them; hopefully HornHarvester will see this and give you his story on dealing with their customer service with 2 guns he had. I have read too many posts on the various sites I haunt from people who have had problems dealing with their CS.

Ive sent in two brand new guns for repair and they sent them back saying they repaired them and the guns still had the same problems.
If you get a good one then it will be OK but if you get a bad one and get stuck trying to get warranty.....GOOD LUCK!
Do a web search on Taurus's warranty and see what guys have to say. h.h.

OK then, what would be a good brand for around that price?

Check into Kahr's. I have a CW9 that is a great shooter, I think I picked it up used (BARELY) off of Gunbroker a bit over a year ago for about $350 or so. It's on the large side for a "pocket" gun, but for winter carry it probably isn't an issue. The CM9 is supposed to be smaller, Woody had (has?) one on order.
The Kel-tec PF9 is another option. I have no personal experience with them, but I was considering one before I found my CW9. The PF9 is smaller (about the size of the Kahr PM9, which is about the same or slightly smaller than the CM9). I've heard some *question* the reliability of the Kel-tecs, but I don't think I've ever heard any actual problems with them. I may still buy a PF9 when funds allow. I *think* you will find new ones listed around $250 or so, I'm pretty sure I just saw some listed on Aim Surplus's site for around that price. Used will be cheaper.
Keep an eye on GunBroker and see what you can find.

I've heard some *question* the reliability of the Kel-tecs, but I don't think I've ever heard any actual problems with them. I have a P3AT (.380) and it is as reliable as any gun that I have ever owned. Its extremely accurate out to 15 yards and it functions without failures.

Take a look at the Ruger SR9c. Shoots awesome and Ruger has very good customer service if you were to ever have an issue.

I've owned Taurus revolvers and they were great firearms. Never had to deal with CS.
I did have an issue with a Marlin product, 44 mag with a barrel that slugged at .433! The CS rep told me that this was "within specs."
Point is that, in my experience, warranty issues can be a roll of the dice with any company.
If I liked the Taurus and it felt good in my hand, I'd likely but it.

I have a Taurus 44 mag. revolver already and I love it. It is a great deer handgun. I had a taurus 22 semi auto about 13 years ago but had to sell it to buy groceries at the time. That is why I was looking at getting another one.
Thanks for the advice.
