Tomorrow morning, I am going on my first pistol hunt for squirrels of the season. I am using a Ruger Mark III 22/45 Target with CCI Stingers. It is an extremely accurate combination and shots will be limited to 20 yards are less. I have shot this gun a lot and I am a very good shot with it. I am using iron sights as well. Does anyone else pursue small game with a pistol?

Good luck! I've killed quite a few squirrels with my Ruger Mark II Government Model.

I had some action but failed to bring home any meat ( I missed), but I had a blast, literally.

I've thought about toting along the scoped MK II if/when I ever head out grouse hunting. I don't have a dog, and just about every grouse I've seen so far has not flushed/flown away from me, so I figure the .22 would make a good companion to the 20 gauge. Better luck next time, Jason!

I use a super comanche with .410 shot shells for rabbit hunting. I miss more than I get but the dogs get to run longer.

I think that you will enjoy hunting with a handgun,I know that I do. You picked a great gun to do it with, that is what I use only mine has a red dot scope . I also deer hunt with a Ruger 357 blackhawk. GoodLuck and have fun.

I use a .177 air pistol. The american classic. Very deadly at close range for small game.

One could say I enjoy hunting anything with a handgun...well...a handgun of sorts. My best shot to date on a squirrel was a head shot on one of these grays at 80 yards. That is a 17 HMR contender. I also have 22's and other calibers. I really like the Ruger Mark II's (especially my government model) but have found that I prefer shooting the Browning Buckmarks...but neither is as fun as the Contenders. I just like the challenge of a single shot pistol. But our fellow hunter Springfield chasing them with an air pistol...that would be a tough way to get food on the table!!

Here is why I like using the 17HMR!!! The entrance wound was almost invisible under the left ear
