I got to the range yesterday, even got the wife to go with me. I shot my Handi rifle in 357 maximum, and my CVA Scout 44 mg.
Couldn't be more pleased with the maxi; it was shooting great with 2 different loads, and it is ready for November.
However, the Scout is on it's way to Georgia, the home of CVA repairs. After trying several loads, and getting no better than 3 inches at 50 yards, I decided to give CVA customer service a try.
I hope to have it back, shooting much better, before firearms season opens.
Any of you had dealings with CVA on repairs?

Hey, Aint that Maxi one of them PCR wildcats that shouldnt be legal in Indiana for deer hunting? LOL
Sounds like you are good to go with your Max. If I didnt have such a awesome smokeless muzzle loader that just hammers deer I would be shooting a Max. I really like those cartridges. h.h.

Parson What kind of loads are you shooting in the Handi Maxi? So far I am reeeally liking the speer 180's and the Hornday 180's are about the same, over heavy dose of 1680.

Havent I seen you on GBO?

Yep, Lon371, I do frequent GBO. I've gotten a lot of help over there. In fact, I rented the reamer from Tim to do my maxi.
I'm shooting Hornady 180 gr. SSP, and 180 gr. XTPs. They have the same POI from my rifle. I've also shot a few Lee 158 gr. gas checked rounds that shoot very good, but they do have a different POI.
I like the AA1680 powder also. In fact I'm gonna have to buy some more before too long!

Thought that was you. I know the magic reamer of which you speak. It has stopped by here too I will have to try the 180 xtps, I am using the 180 ssp, and the speer 180 flat points. Did shoot some 158gr in 38 spc case with 1.5 gr of bullseye. It goes pop instead of bang. Lonny

Johnny used my Max with 180gr SSP's at the youth hunt and I was very pleased with its performance.

No experience with the CVA, but finding a load for my .44 handi was a nightmare. I'm shooting 240 xtp's on top of max H110 and now it's about 1.5" @ 100. It was a long road to get there! Hopefully things go smoothly for you, and it comes back a shooter! Oh, and I swore off any more handi's after my .44 troubles, but hearing all the reports here and on GBO about the maxi.....hmmmmmm
