LTL Hunting holders get every license except Federal Duck Stamp. If they establish a new season for anything, you get those tags too. Its that simple.

Im pretty sure I had been hunting for some time when they decided to take the LTL' s out of "service" but I wasnt able to afford one then. Im not even sure if I was holding a steady decent paying job at the time, but I agree that there should never be a charge or surcharge to LTL holders when it was designed as just that a LIFETIME LICENSE !! I agree to that the LTL should include all tags that are introduced in the future.
Whether you look at it as a "mortgage" or not lol, I wouldnt pay extra interest on my home because someone else didnt qualify or able to get tehlower rate that I did at the time I got it ! I wouldnt think anyone would really do that !! I wish that I would of been able to purchase a LTL before they were done away with but I simply didnt have the ability to do so, yet I dont think that those people that could afford them should be held responsible to pay extra now because I didnt or couldnt buy mine Lol !!
I would love to see them re-introduced and I would take out a small loan in order to do it now guess I was do nieve to realize how much they were truly worth at the time but I sure know how effective & cheap it really was then considerin what I have paid and will continue to pay for all my deer tags, and hunting & fishing licenses if Im blessed enough to live a long healthy life !!

If they offered them I would sell just about anything I own just to buy one. Sounds like a great investment. I got the Lifetime carry permit and feel it was one of the best things I have ever bought. I wish they would offer it again...

The back of my LTL says:
This license is in lieu of:
1) Annual Resident Hunting License
2) All present and future annual stamps or licenses required to hunt for a specific species.

I wish i had hunted 10 yrs ago. I just started in the last 3 years. I would have and still would purchase a LTL if offered.
I to bought my lifetime personal protection as did my wife.
Charging now for licenses is complete BS.

I did the math when looking at the LTL for hunting and fishing and it was a no brainer for me. My nephew likes to hunt and fish, and his parents were going to buy him his LTL when they came back from vacation. They stopped issuing them when they were on vacation and he's SOL now.
I have my lifetime personal protection permit too.

My kids started hunting before they brought out the youth license. 4 kids times 4 hunting licenses times 4 deer gun licenses times 4 archery licenses added up in a hury and I still had to buy my own licenses. When the LTL became available, I bought each of my kids and my son in law one. I bought mine last. I had to save up the money all year and bought one every year until everybody had one. It was the gift that keeps on giving. Now my youngest son who lives in Wisconsin can still come to Indiana and hunt with the old man, what a blessing. My brother who also lives out of state comes up for a hunt once in a while and can afford to buy the gas. I feel that I have paid my share over the years and am not ashamed of hunting on a life time license. Anybody know what happened to all the money that was paid in to the DNR for the LTLs?

How can buying a LTL cover the cost of a license that wasn't even created when you bought it -- Ex. crossbow license The same way it covers the price of that extra buck tag that is no longer available. it's a trade off.

Price differences were because cost was bases on age at time of purchase.

Got mine when it was $525. I was maybe 23 years old so I didn't have much money but I did know they were jumping the price the next year and knew it was only going to get more expensive. Now they are priceless! And if Indiana would even try to charge a fee to the LTL holders there will be some lawsuits. Might not be me or you but I know some who will fight it tooth and nail. Those of us who did purchase the LTL entered into a contract with the state. The only way they could get around this is to give up the control of F&W to the federal govt like the migratory bird stamp. That will not happen as the feds have not business and they don't want to manage Indiana's fish and wildlife.

For everyone old enough to have bought the lifetime licenses when they was available and didn't should quit whining. Look in the mirror, that's where the blame lies. I have no pity for you, none whatsoever. I'm not sorry for your bad decision making. Simple math told you that it would have been one of the best investments you ever made. Not mine nor anyone else's fault you didn't pay attention enough in math class to do a simple addition then multiplication task.
For what it's worth, you want to fund the DNR better?? Call your state representatives, senators and the governors office. All the funds collected from the fees you pay go into the state coffers. The DNR submits a yearly budget and the state government then decides whether or not to approve the submitted budget as is or to cut the funding, add to the funding etc. If they didn't sell one stinking tag the DNR would still be funded simply because the DNR is a very important state agency that we can't do without. In reality the tags you buy, the access fees you pay to gain entry into state parks etc, etc are nothing more than an extra taxes. Resident tags should be so cheap they almost give them away since you already pay all those other pesky state taxes and the deer belong to every resident in this state. In fact, if your a resident you shouldn't have to pay to kill the deer you own, or gain access to a state park etc. And why some people want to give away state resources owned by the taxpayers to out of state hunters is beyond me. Out of state residents should pay out the wazoo to hunt here in the state. I could go on and on but I digress ....

Like I said in my early post those that want LTL holder to pay extra should pony up the money we did to buy ours and then we all can buy tags together. Beside look at the millions of dollars your share would be for the DNR. We could have tele-check, reduced doe tags and maybe a sportsman license. After you all throw in your 14 million there might even be enough to buy some more land.
Any takers? h.h.

I think the absurd thing is that they no longer offer the LTL. A LTL **WILL** work for the state if it is priced correctly. Yes, it may cost $1500.00 -$2000.00.....or maybe more but it should still be available.
I bought mine way back when the hunting was 525.00.........At that time they were priced well below what they should have been charging for them......it took 3.5 years for it to pay for itself based on what I hunted vs what tags I would have had to buy. And that was when deer tags were 13.75.
I think a comprehensive hunting for the range of 2000.00 would work for the state and still be a good deal for a young hunter
With that said, there is no reason to hate the folks who took advantage of the opportunity to purchase one. Lobby the state to bring them back......just dont expect to pay 525.00 for it !

My son is now 18 (as of Aug 23) and on his last ever youth tag.........I would jump at the chance to purchase him a LTL (in the 2000.00-2500.00 range) if they were available
