Hmmmm, 78% of the deer were taken with firearms, and only 20% with a bow. How come the stick and string crowd wanted to cut the opportunity of gun hunters, but claim that it would have resulted in herd reduction? Oh yeah, maybe it was actually all about antler worshiping. But then why bring fact into a discussion!

Hey guys. Been lurking for a couple years but now joined up. I have been traveling to Indiana for about 15 years now. Hunt on private land of a farmer friend I met at church there while visiting one year. I have hunted with a .308 Encore for the last 6 years. 4x Leupold pistol scope. Had to make myself take only the pistol so I would use it only. Very comfortable with it now. Always wait for that double lung/heart shot. Taken 20+ deer with it. Yeah, I have to get a few does to make up for that 1st $150 doe tag and help out on the QDM Taken three 8's in the 130's and a 10 in the 140's with the pistol. I had a .243 for a few years but those big Indiana deer seemed to run some with that and also sometimes didn't have an exit hole. Not good. The .308 always has an exit hole. Recoil is not bad but does come straight back vs up like a .44 mag. Glad to see others also like to use pistol. Wait for that perfect broadside kill shot with one bullet....should with any gun. Glad to be here! Super glad to be THERE on 11/12/11

I have only carried a handgun for the last 3 years and took 2 deer. A taurus 44 mag. revolver. I love being able to sit in a stand with it tucked in my coat. It is nice to sit there and relax and not have to hold a shotgun for several hours. Where I hunt is very thick so I don't have any long shots.

I hunt in Clarke Co. Use a portable API shooting star climber. Usually 20-25 ft. I always hunt the thickets and not the fields. Corners, intersections, funnels, etc. Yeah, I noticed that the site has me as female......wrong. LOL How do I get that changed? Thanks for the welcome.

I asked the ProBoards Guru and he said - This won't be something that you can correct for them, however they will be able to correct it themself. Have them visit the modify profile page, and they'll find the gender selection as the first option under the "Personal Information" category of the page..

I"m using the cheap Winchester 100gr PowerPoint. I tried the Fed Fusion and liked how they shot but just went back to the cheap silver box.

I am using the 95gr Nosler Partitions. I hope I get a chance to see how they perform on a deer this season.

I use 165 gr core lokt or partition bullets. Shot the pistol twice yesterday at 60 yards. Dead Center and one inch high. A nickel would cover the two holes. I am ready for Saturday. Leaving out Thursday night and be in Indiana Friday to hang my stand. ;D Staying at my landowner friends house for a week. Should be good. Come on cold weather and big bucks chasing.
