dang early shooters. I had just came up from the basement about 9:30 last night and noticed the rain had stopped. I no sooner had that thought and BOOM!! 1 shot, real close to the house out on the road. I grabbed my truck keys and hopped in my truck, cut off my lights, got to the end of the drive and sure enough down the road a little bit sat a white pickup. As soon as I turned onto the road they took off. I never could get close enough to get a plate number. I finally figured it wasn't worth any of us dyin over in a fiery crash. I drove around for the better part of an hr hoping to cross paths with them again. Never did. In my haste I had left my cell sitting in the basement so no I didn't call it in. Today I walked around the bean field by where they were parked and didn't find blood or anything so who knows. Ive been watching a bachelor group of bucks in that field all summer. I'm hoping they missed and having a crazy mad bald guy chasing them around Miami co will make them think twice next time. Now Im sure some will say how do you know they were poaching? I don't. BUT why did they take off when they saw me? why one shot in the dark? why were they parked on property they don't have permission to shoot anything on? As far as I'm concerned that's 3 strikes.

Shooting from a road at night = poaching in my book. Heck, shooting from a road in the day time = poaching. I would report the incident to your C/O.

Report that you heard a gunshot after dark, why is that some folks think every shot after dark is a poacher shooting deer? I got a pesky opossom and raccoon that keeps stealing my wifes ripe tomatoes and you can sure bet if this critter is caught out at night the neighbors will hear a gunshot.

so if a strange vehicle that is NOT your neighbors is sittin down the road and fires a shot, you wouldnt be concerned? Thats a bit different Id say.
hunter7x, report it to your CO anyway with what info you have. Might be a pattern in the area. They map out all their calls so they know what areas to concentrate on along with days and times that might be recurring

I agree with the majority, sounds like trouble! I know reporting it will not get them into trouble nowbut at least the co's will have a paper trail to start following. Good Luck!

In formation can be submitted to your local Conservation Officer in several ways. You can do any of the following:
Call either North Region or South Region and leave a message with the information or just leave a message for the officer to contact you.
Call 1-800-TIP-IDNR and report the information
text IDNR to TIP411 and report it by using a text message
