Lets see... Trail cams out and checked occasionally. Been shooting the bow as much as I can. Been doing lots of side work to make fun money to finance this years hunting trips and equipment. Ordered a custom smokeless muzz barrel for my pro hunter, should be in very soon. Currently working on ordering up all the needed accessories for said new muzz barrel. Working on custom platform (very much a work in progress) for my tree saddle so I can setup multiple trees this season. Trying to take care of the honey-dos so I will have the time I want to take to hunt during season.

I will be scouting via squirrel hunting, nothing like being in the woods. Strangely enough, those deer know I am there and get comfortable with my presense as long as I show them disregard. Been within 10 yards of one that I never knew was there till I went to pick up the squirrel I just shot out of the tree. Heavy cover is a deers best friend.

I'm a lil behind this year lol, its been too hot to for me to get out there scouting (I hate tryin to find a good spot while sweat is pourin off my nose onto the ground), I realize my scent would be outta there well before the opener but theres something about "stinkin" up the spots I plan to hunt, I just can't do it.
I havent brought the bow out yet, been working on the honey-do list too much to get nearly anything else done ! With my son starting school Monday, I've been tryin to do things with the family alot before he starts kindergarten. Took a few trips this year with them, he played teeball so that took alot of the weekends up that I usually use to get my gear ready.
And now he is starting soccer & school so Im not too sure when Im goin to find the time to break out the bow & do some much needed scouting (hunting public land Im always tryin to find a new area where there are less hunters), but Im sure I will get it done before the opener !
Bein a "weekend warrior" of a hunter seems to always have me stressed for time to get things done & find time to even get out there but I usually have a successful season. Hope this season will be a repeat of last year ! If I manage to shoot my bow a few times, get out there to scout a time or two, and actually spend a few weekends hunting then I guess Im happy.
I wish I had more time, money and the ability to put in more effort every year but I just dont. So as long as I can atleast spend some days out there & manage to harvest a deer or two then I would call it a success !
I wish all of you luck this coming season & God Bless............. ~INDeerhunter~

I'm hearing rumors that Indiana might push our opening archery season up to September 15th statewide. 2012 of course...
Should just make in September 1 and get in on the velvet bucks....

Most bucks will be in hard antler by the 15th. Biologically speaking, there is no reason deer can't be hunted in Sept.

Too hot for me to hunt in Sept.
I plan on trimming all the shooting lanes next week. My stands are perminent treated wood so I dont take them down. Planted two small strips of turnips this week and I will plant wheat strips mid September. Game cams will go up next week too. h.h.

I'm way behind where I'd like to be at this point. Understandable considering I just moved here a little over a week ago I suppose. I have been shooting my bow everyday at least. Probably won't be able to much scouting until at least next weekend. Planning on Morgan-Monroe SF next weekend, but am not sure after that. Hoping to find something a little closer to West Lafayette. I'm considering Willow Slough. Any thoughts on that property?

many many many hours of scouting and shed hunting, taking notes of what I find in the off season, trying new set ups, using what I know about some of my current set ups, shooting the Bow, and looking at maps and such!

Spent a lot of this weekend on the tractor. Mowing access paths and getting food plots ready to plant.
Boy you can tell we have had ample rain this summer ... the giant ragweed is about 10-12 feet tall.
Had something happen today that was a first .... I was mowing a patch and got into some of that tall ragweed. The front tire bent a piece and as it sprang back I saw a snake in the top of it. The snake lost its grip from the spring-back and landed right on my chest. Sure did spice up the morning!
Next weekend I will tweak stand placements and plant my turnips. first of September I will plant some oats and rye.

48 days! Been working on the bows since we got them, tuning in, practice, practice, practice, tree stand up, one more to go, tons of scouting with the boys discussing wind and scent, noise, etc.......squirrel season tomorrow.....saw Thelma and Louise the outlaw does yesterday, so it seems I'll have my chance at them again this year!

Spent all day yesterday and all afternoon today cutting access to stands and clearing our parking areas. Normally hack in with a Stihl brush cutter and machettes. Getting too old for that and rented a walk-behind brush cutter for the weekend. Man was that nice.
Restrapped stands, trimmed shooting lanes, and got all of the Life Line ropes tied on. Only thing left for the woods is getting our blinds out.
I normally start shooting the bow in July. Too hot for me this year. With cooler temps this week the bows coming out with 15 - 20 arrows every night.

Early Goose comes in Sept. 1 and Teal Sept. 3. I'm more in gear for that, but about halfway through Sept. I'll start getting the itch. I'm really looking forward to this season.
