Looking to buy a decent bench rest over the weekend, any suggestions without breaking the bank?
Firearms to be used are, muzzy's, single shot 44mag, slug guns etc........been wanting one forever, just not a clue of which ones to stay away from...
Thanks in advance,

If you do purchase a Lead Sled don't waste your $ on bags of shot (they are not cheap) instead use a tie-down ratchet strap like you use to secure cargo. One strap can secure the sled to any picnic table or shooters bench and hold far better than several bags of shot, not to mention it's lighter and will save you money. You can buy a pair of straps for about $4.00 or less.

Tyeing down the rest is not what you want to do. The rest needs to be able to recoil back some or things like scopes can get broke. When the lead sled first came out I read several stories about guys putting 50-75 lbs of lead on them and breaking scopes because something had to give. Plus, point of impact changes if you tie them down vs. letting the rest move back.
If you use 25lbs bag of shot or sand the rest will do the job of reducing recoil.
I shoot a lot of big recoiling guns and this set up lets me shoot all day without the black n blue arm and the POI is right on the money when shooting off hand.
If you dont believe me do a search on the net and you will see. h.h.

HH on the not tying one down. I use a sled too but we don't put so much weight in it that it doesn't move...just slowing it down to take some of the bite out of it. I think the sled is great for dialing a rifle, scope, load or whatever but IMHO, one still needs to shoulder the gun and get some shooting time in on and off the bench.
