Anyone ever pushed 300 grain bullets at 1200fps to 1300fps in a .45 Colt? The gun is a Redhawk, so it will safely handle the load and I have pushed the same bullets to 1175fps or so in a 4 5/8 Blackhawk and recoil was stout. I am curious to see what a load at 1200fps and 1250fps will look like with accuracy and recoil. Any similar personal experiences with this round at these speeds (not the Casull) ? If so, please share.

I run a load of 26gr of H110 ad a 250gr bullet through my 7.5" Blackhawk. I'm guessing I'm getting about 1400 out of it (I need to chrono a few of my handguns yet and this is one of them). I find this to be pretty stiff but I can still group it up well, however that's about as much as I care to shoot. Your Redhawk is a little heavier, I suspect that load is still going to push you about like what I'm shooting. If you can handle that Blackhawk I have to think you will be OK with that load in your Redhawk.

I used .45 LC cases, 300 XTP and 19.0 grains of Lil Gun in my Super 454 Redhawk. Accuracy was good and recoil stout. Hodgdon has a section on their reloading website for .45 LC Rugers. I also used 300 grain Pb with different powders but the bullets didnt have gas checks and I didnt like the leading. data.hodgdon.com/main_menu.asp

I have.
Loaded up some 300gr XTP mags over a load of H110 to carry with me while I hunted Elk the first few years. Ruger Super Blackhawk 4 5/8". Been a while so I do not recall exactly what the powder charge was.
Recoil from a handgun does not bother me in the least but accuracy was not the best.

I had a 7.5" Blackhawk and could not run much over 1100 fps due to not enough sight adjustment. Even tried a dot scope and was almost completely out of "up" adjustment. Maybe that was just the way my pistola shot though. Really tight groups at that velocity! I sold off the .45 to fund a .358 WSSM rifle.
