Bought 2 boxes of Hornady Leverevolution 225gr FTX. I've got it dead nutz at 50 yards...gonna wait til' i get a better rest to shoot at 100 yrds. What do you all expect this combo to do at that distance, drop wise? Any other bullet recomendations?

I assume 44Mag. I like a JSP in a PCR, hard cast would be OK as well. I'd think you'll see 1-1.5".

You're gonna like it! I had one in 44 mag. I still have a .357 that I bored to 357 maximum. You can't beat 'em for the money.

I love my H & R Handi Rifle 44.mag. Goto Hornadys website to look up ballistic chart for drop.

My .44 H&R really likes the Speer 270 grain Golddot SP as well as the 240 Hornady XTP. Both perform well on deer, but I like that Golddot the best.

Ghheesss lug, a new gun and a new crossbow.....life is good. Those bullets will work just fine but I think the 240 and 270 grain soft points are better since they wont come apart on impact if a deer is real close. My advice is go for a double lung shot on a close deer using the FTX bullets. h.h.

Lol yes its a. 44 mag Is 225 too light of a load? The 225 grainer is not too light, but I like using a 240 grain Hornady XTP for Deer sized game, especially when hunting in brushy/woody hunting areas, where the Range is < 75 yards.

New gun, crossbow, summit climber, and a set of tires for the truck.....needless to say all I got yesterday was a loong lst of honey-do's!

I don't know how far you plan to shoot at deer, but I think you get the most out of the 44 Mag with a zero between 125 to 150 yds. With your load, that would be 2" high at 50. After 150, this load starts to drop pretty quickly. With a 150 yd zero, it is 9 inches low at 200.

As for ammo, I'd opt for handloads or buy Corbon ammo with a good constructed bullet. The FLT bullets are a good choice if you don't hit the shoulder nuckle. They are really fragile especially at rifle velocities. I'd most likely shoot handloads and hotter the better in a rifle, why? because most factory loads are under powered due to having to be safe in a lot of different pistols.
