I did harvest this gobbler yesterday evening at 5:00! Woke up yesterday morning to rain and decided to let it pass, about 10:00 my oldest son(age 6) asked if I was going hunting because he wanted to go. I said why yes we're going hunting. So my boys(4 & 6) and I head out and got set up at 11:00. We had a hen clucking at us at 30yds that was it so we headed home at 2:00. At 3:30 my wife asked if I was hunting later because she had plans at 7:00, at first I said no, but then I looked outside and the sun was shining. I told her I would be back later. I went to another farm and got set up at 4:00 did some soft calling and nothing. A half hour later did some more calling followed by some aggressive yelps and BOOM GOBBLE, 300 yds away. Over the next half hour he slowly closed the distance, but he was coming up behind me, behind a bunch of brush. He finally stepped out gobbling and strutting at a mere 5yds before he raised his head and ended the game! It's been 5 years since I harvested my last bird, but IT PAYS TO STAY PERSISTENT!! Good luck to everyone!! 23 lbs, 10" beard, 1 1/8 " spurs
