Ran across some ads for the Scorpyd crossbow. Like the design concept of the longer draw and lower weight. Seems quieter than most and they claim a light trigger.
Kinda heavy and pretty pricey, though.
Nearest dealer appears to be in Jasper. Anyone have any firsthand knowledge of these?

A friend bought one and it was too heavy for me! Heaviest crossbow I ever held. h.h.

Yeah, I wondered about that. The ad said it 11 pounds!
I wouldn't want to tote an 11 pound bow around, but I think my crossbow use would likely be more a matter of taking it to a specific spot and staying there, rather than hunting on the move.
I have a 1022T Ruger .22 with a bull barrel that probably goes eight or better, and I got used to it pretty quickly for toting it around squirrel hunting, so I'm not sure the weight would be a deal breaker for me.
If I'm carrying the blind or a daypack of supplies to use in the blind or stand, maybe the extra three pounds over the normal crossbow weight wouldn't be much of a factor.
Did your friend like it otherwise?

He said he did but I think it was too heavy for him too. You add a scope, quiver and bolts and it gets in around 13 lbs or so. h.h.

It is HEAVY. Nice concept but I'd stick iwth a lighter crossbow. TenPoint make a nice recurve in their GT Flex that is fairly light weight. .

Thanks for the replies, guys.
Read some more since posting the question. Think the weight might make quite a bit of diference to me, too. I have a pretty good hike in up at least one good hill the way it is, and the darn hill keeps getting higher every year.
I may put off the decision a while to see if I get my own hunting ground this year.
Or look for real good deal on a lower priced "real" one as a first crossbow, then wait until I have a better idea of the importance of the different factors to me, based on my own experience.
