OK first of all this is just for fun. I'm not trying to say I, we, you, us, or anyone else is or should try to push this through. Just a fun question. Would you like a archery only turkey season to come in say the weekend before general turkey season. Just pretend you are holding the lamp and the genie ask you that question. Would you like it? Why or why not? My answer is "sure, because I would like to be forced to try to get one with my bow. I tried a few years ago, but got desperate towards the end. It was too hard to run and gun with a bow."

I would say yes, but I may change my mind after this season, because I am strictly using my bow this year for the first time.

Let me think on that a spell..

It could be a good idea for the DNR to make a little more $$$. Sell a tag for archery only, which would only last a week or so, and a seperate tag for the regular season. I'd do it, since I have a lifetime liscense. Maybe it could be the week after the regular season since the youth have the weekend before.

I agree with Brad Don't mess with the youth season. Add an Extra tag for a full week after the regular season. It would be a great challenge.

I wouldn't like it and do not really see the point in having it Everyone has the option to use the spring season now as "bow only". If they did, they shouldn't add an extra tag for the additional season. If you fill it during the regular spring season, then you are done. If people really want to shot one with a bow, then they have two weeks and four days to do it in. It shouldn't be a case of "well, I tried the first couple days of the regular season and gave up, I'll just try with my bow during the archery only season. If the state does feel we have an abundence of turkeys and they are able to give a second tag, it should be for the entire spring season. And also go back to ending the hunting day at noon or two o'clock. But that would probably be another discussion.

Well,
I've thought about it and I have to agree with gobblerstopper.
Most of our birds are killed on private gorund and there is nothing stopping us from using whatever is legal any day that we choose.
We can even alternate if that is our desire.
Pass on a bow seaosn for turkeys.... I do not feel real strong about it either way and ceratinly wouldn't fight it one way or the other.

No thanks. I like to bow hunt spring birds and I still don't see a need to separate seasons. Also, I don't want to impose on the youth weekend either. The youth weekend is one of the BEST things INDR has done to promote youth involvement, IMO.
