Ok, I've been reading again. I am too lazy to find the specific article or magazine, but it was talking about an outfitter who uses a turkey fan and some sort of black lump meant to look like the rest of the turkey body laying on the ground wounded. This supposedly drives other gobblers in to pounce on him and beat him up some more. It worked in the article. I was watching a hunting show last night and a guy shot a turkey with his bow only to have the other gobblers immediately attack it. Obviously my wheels started turning. Should I try this? Have any of you witnessed this or thought about trying it?

I've seen several videos where other Toms are around when one is shot and they attack the wounded/dead one. Don't know why? Sounds like an interesting study. But we're back to the gobbler decoy and other hunters.

After my stepdad killed his last year, four other toms started running across the cut cornfield towards the flopping bird. As soon as the one he shot stopped flopping the others stopped running and turned around and went the other way. I believe they will take any chance they get to show their dominance and their place in the pecking order. Too bad his bird didn't flop a little more, because I was ready for a double.

I don't know weather the fakes would work, but---I shot a gobbler about 4 years ago and a jake that was following him jumped right on him to give him a thumping. I had to chase him away and he didn't want to leave.

I had to chase him away and he didn't want to leave. My buddy shot 1 out of a group of four jakes a few years back. He threw it over his back, walked out of the woods and the remaining three birds followed him for a quarter mile or so.

Turkeys are mean spirited and pounce on their buddies if given the chance. Its happened to me numerous times. So it will probably work.
