I have had my mouth calls out about 3 weeks already. I just got the rest of my calls out over the weekend and have been practicing with them now too. I practice a little bit here and there or until the wife gets fed up with it and tells me to shut up. My 1 year old son loves the noises though.

I have a 5 drawer organizer in my workshop / garage where I keep all my calls (Turkey, Deer, Elk, Predator and Waterfowl and I play with them year round. Its nice I dont have to worry about bothering anyone, I even have a TV with a DVD player and a VCR to watch hunting videos undisterbed.

I have only been married for 5 years. I think you have to be about twenty in before you can get away with the tv-frig in the garage thing.

LOL!!!! Thats funny, the best opart is, I'm only 32 and not even married!!!!!! I just laid down the ground rules right from the start!!!!! My garage is DETATCHED 2 1/2 car with tons of space, even with my truck and Tiffs car inside, it has tree stands hanging down one side, all my tubs organized on shelves, my decoys stay opened all the time on a shelf (helps them to really keep their shape well) I have my fridge, microwave, freezer, workbenches, a couple archery targets for late night shooting (just open the door and hit the lights), old oval kitchen table and chairs, gas grill 9for rainy day BAR BQs, TV DVD VCR, gonna try to hook up cable this summer, and install a wood burning stove. Heck its every mans dream garage!!!!

My daily commute is rather lengthy so I try to practice my mouth calling in the vehicle. That's really the only practicing I have conducted so far this year.

I'm practicing/testing calls and different strikers constantly in a clean room(not my shop)usually when my wife(of 50 years) is not home. If she is home when I start up I usually hear the upstairs door shut right away.

I don't have a whole lot of space in the house or "man room" garage so untill I get a bigger spread with a pole barn I hit a glass call here and there but as far as that goes you never really forget how to use one in my opinion. My wife get's pretty angry when I start showing my obbsetion with hunting and fishing so I keep it on the down low till season comes in, by then I'm prety jacked up on adrinalyn (sp) so I pizz her off coming and going it's pretty entertaining!

Just dusted my friction calls off last weekend. Gives me a whole month to practice. I try to practice outside as much as possible because they sound a lot different indoors.

I'm sure I'm driving my neighbor nuts..When I finish making a call I'll go sit out on the porch swing and go to town, for atleast an hour or two...

Here is something to try. Have someone call and go about 50 yds then 100 yds away and listen to how much different the call sounds. Sometimes you think a call sounds bad but at a distance it sounds more realistic than you think. h.h.

Another trick I use is I take my mini tape recorder into the woods on a calm day, set it on a log, press record then I'll walk about 50 yds away , set down and go to town on everything I got in a percise order that way when I listen to it, I can decide what sounds good and what dosent. After the 50 yd test I try 100 yds, anything past that and the recorder dosent pick anything up. *** Of Course I dont have Turkeys in the woods I practice in *** I also take it along with me on my hunts, kinda neat to hear, only a gobble is really hard to pick up on it for somereason.
