Looks like a bill filed has this attached to it.
"Makes permanent a provision authorizing the issuance of lifetime hunting, fishing, and trapping licenses"
Yeah or Nay??

I can see and will even suggest that a new Lifetime License would require an anual activation tag for like $1 or 3. This would allow the DNR to track how many hunters are using theie lifetime license and allow the DNR to use those licenses in the number they turn into the Feds for P/R Act money.

I believe that the LTLs are counted every year for P-R with a certain percentage taken off as us old timer quit or die. Not sure what that percentage is though.

I thought I heard (read on here?) that the LTL can only be counted for 15 years after they are purchased.....?

They can track my lifetime license everytime I fill out a tag for a deer I've shot. Don't think I would agree with the $1-$3 annual fee. Hope they do bring them back intime for my children when they become adults.

Something like the HIP number wouldn't work because it is free. I still get counted every year because I buy a Federal Waterfowl Stamp and a trapping license. I understand the feelings of buying a lifetime license and not wanting to spend any more money down the road, but I see a bigger picture of continuing a legacy for out children.

If they are concerned about generating revenue lifetimes are not the route..

Thus the reason they were discontinued.

Lifetime's are a good investment. But I would imagine they will be alot more expensive than they origainally were. I think I paid around $280.00 in 1985 or 86 for hunting only. Might have been $240, so long ago I am not 100% sure. They discontinued a few year's later I beleive.

Paid over $700 for mine and later over $1,100 for my wife's comprehensive lifetime hunting and fishing license. If they would invest that $ wisely they would have plenty of revenue. Kinda of like if one buys a cemetery plot, the $ is invested to ensure that that ground will be maintained long term. I don't understand why that can't be done (or wasn't done). Maybe I'm looking at it all wrong, but as a busness owner, large commitment $ is really nice if I use it properly and don't blow it frivolously.

Personally I think the amount should b set at around just under $2K for a comprehensive LT hunt & fish licence. It would ensure that they would have enough investment $

Maybe if they're pro-rated accoding to your age. I wouldn't pay $2k at 42 years old.
