I did some research and wanted to build a feather burner. I made it out of scrap pieces of wood and some nuts and bolts I had laying around. I didn't spend much time on it, I just wanted to see if it worked. Now that I know it does, I want to make a better looking one. It is basically two uprights, one with a V cut, and the other with a hole and a back stop. I used two carriage bolts to attach the wire to. I bought 3 of these wires from 3rivers.com for $1.99 each. They are some sort of heat element wire. I bent them in different shapes. I glued a turkey feather on a piece of dowel rod to test it out. I hooked up a battery charger to each post and set it on 6 volts, then slowly rotated the dowel. The wire heats up and burns the feather to the outline of the wire. I should have got a picture of the feather before I burnt it, but didn't think about it. Burning feather really stinks! Here is how it turned out. Now I need to figure out how to make a cresting machine.
