Sadly, today marks the 2nd Anniversary of the passing of Art Spancake.... aka. Shootsa410. To some Art was just another person posting comments on this forum, but to many others he was a dear friend. Many people gleaned knowledge of waterfowl hunting, more specifically goose hunting from Art. He never hesitated to help a new guy out or take someone along to some of his coveted honey-holes that seemed to always be drawing in the geese. Art was a staunch supporter of the NRA and many other wildlife conservation groups. He was one of those guys that didn't just talk about doing the right thing......he DID the right thing. He was an honest, ethical, and wise hunter who left us way before his time should have been up. I can only guess that somewhere up in heaven someone was needing some hunting or shooting advice and so the Lord called home the best. If you knew Art, take a moment to remember him and his family today. I'm sure he'd be happy to know that we haven't forgot him. We miss ya buddy!

Has it been two years already?
Yes, he is certainly missed here and other places.
In life we will sometimes meet someone that we are better off just knowing that individual. Art was one of those individuals. I was only in his presenjce twice at the Hunting Indiana gatherings, but we hit it off.
I think everyone who met him became an instant friend.
Even on the site here he was the most friendliest guy going. He offered to take just about anyone goose hunting. I do not recall him ever getting into one of our "debates". That wasn't his style.
RIP Art and prayers of comfort to the family..

My grandson Jake often talks about the shooting tips Art taught him on the skeet field. RIP Art, you are not forgotten.

I never met the man, but he must of been a very good old boy and liked by many by all the heart felt post I have seen on him. I always payed heed to his advise he gave on this board. By his post, you could tell the man knew his stuff.

He was by far one of the best American, hunter, and friend I ever knew. He served our county in active duty and as a civilian employee, had 4 deer on his wall that would make anyone drool, cariboo, moose, elk, and of course his waterfowl. He couldn't pass up crow season or an occasional yote. He didn't know less than 100% when it came to family and hunting.
Not a flock of birds flys by me without thinking of that old stinky goose hunter (what an old farmer he hunted on would call him!). Not a round of skeet goes by without remembering his advice of kicking you in the butt if you raised your head. Not many like my old buddy Art...
Thoughts and prayers to his wife and family.

I only met Art one time and that was at the HI picnic. We shot skeet together and of course he used his .410 O/U. Art seemed to have this competitive spirit in him and being an ol skeet shooter I thought "game on".
His wife and granddaughter were with him and both were sweethearts. I remember sitting with them at the pavilion after we shot skeet and eating buffalo chicken wings and Art stating how much he liked them. Rest in peace Art, h.h.

This is Art's wife. I just want to thank you for sharing you thoughts of Art. Since his death, I have read numerous postings of things he had done for people and these were things I didn't even know, he always remembered what it was like not to have and tried his best not to have anyone do without if he could help it. As his Dad, Art always tried to find good in everyone. But we all know he loved goose hunting. I remember my last birthday with him, we were suppose to go out to eat at a nice restaurant, but instead, we spent about 2 hours scanning fields looking for geese. After we were done, we went for Pizza. But that was OK. He was a great person, a great husband, loved his kids and adored his grandkids. So Thank you Travis, Woody, and Ryan as always and to others who remembered.
