;D Well, here it is, a couple of years ago when I had killed several birds year after year, then went to Desert Storm and missed Turkey season for two years. I got back to my regular job, and had been watching turkey videos like they were going out of style. So I set up after roosting a bird the night before and set my decoy up ( to far away ), and then start calling. One answers and it is a huge one, it come strutting into the decoys. And I let him have it with a 3 1/2 incher, and blasted him, he started shaking it out like he was dusting, and then all of a sudden he starts walking right up the hill at me. Well, I am so excited that I not only jack the used shell out but the next two out. I realize this when I pull the trigger and nothing happens and then when trying to put one back the bird has had enough and runs like the roadrunner away. God, was I excited at the time. Since that time I have not got buck fever since, or I mean Turkey fever. But was it a natural high, yes, and that is what kids need to get high on, and not drugs. TAke a kid hunting.

I had one fly off after me shooting him and him flopping around for 2-3 seconds. I thought he was dead and lowered the gun and zoom, he was in the air and around a tree and gone. I stood there like a dummy with 4 more shells in a semi-auto in my hands. Talk about being disappointed! h.h.

When I actually lay eyes on the gobbler I get a little excited and then just like hunting deer I try and turn that off and concentrate on just killing him.
I go into a killing mode by blocking out all thoughts about anything else. Just total concentration on killing him.
The more I have to think about what he is doing and what am I going to do if he does this or that the more I get somewhat out of that killing mode. Not good.
Like deer, the excitement comes after the shot. I've shot deer with a bow or crossbow that ran off I get so excited then that I have sit down to keep from falling down. My hands and legs shake and my teeth chatter.
None of that before the shot though.

Yeah me too. I get the same rush and all, but I only get it afterwards. Never shot a turkey yet, but have been very close a couple of times. With deer, I only get shook up after the shot.

What? You guys don't start wondering how the best pose is gonna be with your gobbler for the Turkey contest??? LOL.
Turkey rush and deer rush..... if you could bottle it up and sell it, it would be more valuable than cocaine!!!!

My son and I had worked a pair of long beards two other times before.Lost them to hens two times and the other I got the great idea to take another 14 year old so my son and he could double. We all got in EARLY to our setup.Birds had move about 100yds from their usual roost sight.Yep,at daylight we found out we were smack in the middle of them! This poor boy we took didn't know what turkey hunting setting still was.Didn't take long and we were busted way before fly down.Birds all flew but most didn't know why.Small woodlot so I told the boys we would hit my mom and dads for breakfast and let things die down. Got busted late that morning by the pair we were after. One strutter, one looker. The same boy made a move on the strutter and didn't see the looker. Two birds gobbling for 30 minutes coming straight up the hill to him 10 feet apart and all he could see was one! ;D I called them both back to us a short while later but all they would do was gobble and work the rim of the ridge top we were on for over an hour and a half. They were at about 60yds most of the time. All I had to do was putt and they both would gobble.I saw a head one time for about 2 seconds and that was it.Must have gotten 200 gobbles from those two.I loaded up and changed out strikers 3 times just doing putts.I just knew those birds were going to give one of the boys a shot. I stayed so keyed up for so long that day that most every muscle I own was sore the next day like I had gotten beat!
