Here is my first try at making a turkey call(walnut:slate/glass)..It won't win a beauty contest, but it sounds better than anything I have ever bought from a store..I'll never buy another mass produced call..I found some cherry and walnut lumber, and found some slate, glass, and crystal,I'll have enough to practice on and get a little better at it.

Actually,I may be looking for a few "field testers" Woody I offered to help him first! LCB I got a trip to play with some of those loud mouthed Rios in less than a month.I could field test it on foreign soil. As nice as that call looks I would have to keep it hid from my oldest son.If he got his hands on it I'd never get it back. He's bigger than I am and that call might make him mean enough to fight!

Looks great!!
Call making is addictive and it doesn't get any better. I don't know of a production call that I or any of my buddies have bought in the last 4-5 years.
Are you turning the pots on a lathe? If not and plan on getting one, let me know. I have a picture tutorial that might save you a lot of time.

Yeah,I'm using a jet mini-lathe right now..I bought the Bud & Betty call making DVD,he used mostly a router set-up.but it still had lots of good info on measurements..I'd be interested in seeing your pictorial also..

I forgot to mention how addicting call making is and warn you that wives only let so many calls lay around before they start complaining. Especially if there is a four year old that thinks he has to call all the time. lol

Man. They look a whole lot better than my early attempts(probably sound better too). Try some hickory for a striker.

That is the first I've heard about any trouble seeing pictures. Most are straight from the Photobucket site. Are you viewing from work and do they have Photobucket blocked out? What are you getting in the of pictures?

[/IMG]
Would I have to give it back afterwards? Seriously though, there are more sucessful turkey hunters on here than me, but if you get no takers I will be out most of the first week, either hunting or calling, and my brother and I would both be happy to give it a shot. You do know, of course, that if that helped me FINALLY get my first bird, I would be highly inclined to buy one...........
