Well I decided to venture out in the cold this afternoon and hunt a stand where I have been catching a few does on trail cam coming in a little after 4pm that have been feeding on a honeysuckle patch. I haven't hunted out of this stand all year, and I noticed while walking in that there were some very fresh tracks in the powdery snow around the stand. I climb up in the tree, haul my Knight BK-92 up and place it on the hook, and start fidgeting with the lock-on seat in preparation for the evening hunt. I turn around and look out thru the pines and see two does below me about 50 yards away. I hurry up and put a cap on the nipple and get ready to take a shot. The bigger of the two does steps in to a little clearing and pow! I let her have it. She went down immediately, and I was done for the evening after less than 10 minutes on stand! I never even sat down!

Awesome. That's a little quicker than my doe kill played out last week. It sure is a good time hunting in the snow - especially when it plays out as quick as your day!

had one of those hunts yesterday. Wanted to sit out by cornfield I thought they may come to. Couldnt get there to 5 till 5. Slowly slipped down a ditch/divider between 2 fields. Not sitting still for 5 minutes when I caught movement in the woods. 2 does that I figured would hit the field, decided to come down the ditch right at me. Only shot that I had was right thru the chest since she was facing me with me on the ground. It was wild shooting one that close on the ground, when i put the scope on her, her head took up the whole freakin scope. Drove one thru her chest from between 10-15 yds. From the point of putting my truck in park and walking up to dead doe took about 35 minutes

Back in 1997, during Indiana's M/L season; I got a slightly late start hunting on opening morning of the December Season. While walking to my stand, behind my home; I ran across three Deer, one was a Buck with only one antler. So I took him, having not baging a Buck during the regular gun season. My M/L Hunt lasted only 12 minutes!!!

I've had a couple of those. One I had a plan to go hunting even though it was going to be late. I thought well I'll just go sit on the dam and see what happens... Well I walk to the dam and walk up to the top. Pick a tree out to sit under and start clearing a place for me to sit with my boot and hear something just behind me. Two does were bedded down at the bottom on the dam less than 15 yards away. They ran about 40 yards and I put one down. My shortest hunt ever. I've had a couple others that lasted less than 10 minutes but from the time I got out of my car to the dam took all of 3 minutes. When I got home my mom said what's wrong. She asked if someone had taken my stand and I said nope but got a doe and came back to get dad so he could help me drag it out... LOL.. Those hunts to sort of make up for the skunks but I have to say I've been skunked (seeing no deer) way many more times then I've had a chance to kill a deer in a short amount of stand time.. BB

Congrats!
Reminds me of a quick ML hunt a couple years ago. I was headed to a stand near the south end of a small property the deer like to bed in. The plan was to catch them coming to bed in the late PM. Not 20 yds from the truck I cut a fresh track in the snow. One of the voices in my head told me to still-hunt to the stand, even though I was a little late getting there. Not 100 yds from the truck I spotted several deer as they stood up. They must have caught a glimpse of movement but could not smell me. I had a clear 50 yd shot at the neck of the biggest deer and managed to hit the mark. I suppose the "hunt" lasted less than 15 minutes. When I got home my daughter asked "Did you forget something?"

Congrats on the short hunt! I had one many years ago with a bow. My buddies wanted to take a nap and I wanted to hunt. Asked one of them to drop me off at a new property about 3 miles from where we were all hunting. He dropped me off at 11 told him to come get me at 2. I walked in, nestled up into a blown down tree rested my bottom wheel of my bow on my boot and looked at my watch it was 11:20 looked up from my watch and a buck was pushing a doe right to me, I shot him, he ran a bit and I saw him go down looked at my watch it was 11:22! then I had to walk the 3 miles back to where those goof balls were napping. I took GREAT pleasure in waking them up to help me go get my buck.
