Well the latest on the flock out back. They seem to have broken into thier respective groups. This past couple days the young hen's and Jakes have gone seperate ways. The Jake group consist of 9 and the hen group is a bit larger. I notice the jakes showing signs of maturing day to day. Little beards are growing larger and some white and red is taking place of the blue on thier heads. Some are showing more color than others and the ones with the most color seem to be the larger ones and are for sure the bosses of the flock. Even thier beards are a tad longer than the others. Here is a morning shot I took today of a couple.

Nope these pictures are taken with a cheap digital camera. The zoom goes to 3x. These turkeys were less than 6 ft away. I feed them like chickens all winter and over time gain thier trust. Hunger overcomes fear is the best way I can describe it. I live year round with these birds due to the locaton of my home and to see a flock of 50 or more in the yard is nothing unusual. They also key in on the sound of a deer feeder going off and come at a dead run and most times beat the deer to the corn...I might add this is in Ky and the deer feeder is legal but to hunt turkeys over bait is not so these are safe and not pressured.
